Hooah!.. I made my first flight last night with the gws beaver. Its wonderful.. very addicting..
the plane did around 25ft only cause the wind is around 8mph.. It wont get higher done that.. If I insist, the plane stalls.. Im a bit stubborn, but I really want to fly... gonna try again when the wind is calm.
I had 3 crashes but the only damage done was one wheel taken off:)

Congratulations on your relatively successful first flights!
Sounds like you might have a power problem, though. What battery are you using?

I discovered something last night..
I am using Energizer AAA batt pack I made (7.2v 850mah).
The setup of the beaver was: GWS/EPS 350C with 10x47 prop, ICS300 ESC, R114, with 2 S3108 servos and the aforementioned batt pack. Note that my ESC is for 300 motors only and I am using a 350 motor. (I kinda confused because when I check the beaver manual it says its using EPS 300C power system that is why I bought the ICS300 ESC but eventually discovered that is was a 350 motor).
When I test run the motor alone, it lasts for more than 5 mins. But when I coupled with surface control movements the motor died down. This I didn't notice during flight because its night time.. All along I thought it was the wind.
*************
Here's one test I made.. with the same setup above, I replaced the batt pack with greatplanes 8.4v 2/3AA 650mah batt pack.
Result: At full throt, and simultaneous control surface movements, all went well.
*************
Here's another test I made with the same energizer AAA packs on the following setup:
GWS/EDF55 300H (ducted fan), Electrifly C10 ESC (capable of up to 400 motor), and the same futaba flight pack.
Result: At full throt, and simultaneously moving the control surfaces, all went well for as long as 850mah could go.
So, is it the ESC?.. or the batt pack?.. anyway, tonight I am going to interchange the ICS300 and C10 ESCs with the 350C and EDF300H setup and check if the Energizer AAA batt pack would work well..
If anybody already have conclusion on the real culprit, please chime in..

Congratulations on your maiden!
That battery set up will not deliver the amperage you need. You should get something with 7 cells or better yet, get an outrunner motor and use lipos.
Beaver's are very touchy and prone to stalling in a turn if you crank them too hard. Use very subtle and gentle stick movements and you should be fine. They do best when flown scale.
A C10 will handle a 10 amp load. Load is a combination of voltage, motor and prop size. It is very easy to overload a 10A ESC with a 400 motor if you are using a prop that is too large.

Congratulations. I've found that I can reliably check the wind forecast at http://www.wunderground.com. Just enter your zip and find the forecast for your area. Hopefully you'll have some predictable wind patterns. Here in Valencia, CA, it is almost always calm early in the mornings until about 9 or 10am.

Hi!.. I just replaced the batt pack with the greatplanes 8.4v 650mah.. I was able to make a series of 1 to 2 mins straight flights.. Now I call this real flying than my first attempt..:)
