View Full Version : FMS model for Super Cub or plane that is close?

I bought the e-sky transmitter controller and I have a Super Cub. I have been having a heck of a time finding a site with comprehesive models. I understand that the Super Cub is a newer plane. Does anyone here know if a Super Cub model exists for FMS and where to get it? If there is not one, does anyone know of a 3 channel plane that closely resembles the look and handling of a Super Cub? I tried the Super Decathlon model and it does not seem to handle too closely to the Super Cub.
Thanks!

I just tried the supercub model that comes with FMS and when the .par file is altered in throttle a little it acts pretty closely to the supercub. I own a supercub and fly it and it is a blast this semmed to work kinda like the plane. if u need any help just ask and i can try to help out.

Would that be the 'supercup'?
What settings do you need to change?

I put the second setting when you open the .par file in notepad (the thrust setting) to 11. I think it is a little fast but it flys pretty close to the same and flys level at half throttle.

Thanks for the replies! It has been a while since I got back to this post.
Wow, there is a supercub(p) model with your FMS? Very odd I did not get one with mine. I will try to find it. What version are you running? I'm running version 2 Alpha 8.5. Could someone zip the supercub files and PM me?
Thanks!

Pretty sure it was a standard model with V7 but I am attaching it anyway...

This is the Super Cub model from the FMS forums, I can't say how good it is because I don't have the plane yet but I'm thinking about buying it for my first non toy plane.

Here is one I modded a little for my son to look like his Kyosho J-3 Cub (changed color and sound). We run version 7 but it might work in Alpha 8.5. It's the "Supercup".
You can simulate 3 channel by mapping your rudder and aileron to the same stick. I haven't played with the power settings or anything else in the .par file but it might give you the look you want.
(Edit) It's yellow when you open it in the sim (the picture it shows on selection is the normal Supercup).

Also, here's a link to a site we got a bunch of models from.

Does anyone know how the actual SuperCub joystick is setup? I am looking at buying one soon and want to setup my flight sim to emulate it.

Here's a picture of the Super Cub transmitter:

The slider on the left is the throttle.
The stick on the right controls the elevator (back and forward) and the rudder (left and right)

My Super Cub came with this transmitter. The left stick is the elevator and the right is the rudder. The throttle is on the back, behind the elevator

This sure looks like a pic of the 2 channel xmitter. (Where is the act on/off switch and XPORT activate button?)

Yeah I should have said it looks like this, it's basicly the same but the super cub has xport and act buttons, i forgot about those because i never use them.

Thanks guys. I thought the Cub was a 4 channel for some reason. I just read so much good stuff about it, and I should have visited the website.

I downloded the FMS simulator on my laptop....I used the key board to control the plane that appears by default on the screen...Which to me looked similar to the Super Cub.. I am wondering if there is a cable out there that would connncet the stock TX with the compur ter or for that matter any TX.?

the cub dosn't have a trainer port, but your blade's controler should, and a normal JR computer cable should work. Or you can get a cheap game controler that has 2 sticks and set that up.

Has anyone who owns an HZ Super Cub actually found an FMS model that behaves similar to the real Super Cub? I have decided to buy one, and need a decent model to practice a bit. I tried one from this thread although it had ailerons. I guess I am just looking for a confirmation from an actual owner.

Neeper, the SC is very easy to fly, the hard part of flying it is learning "small smooth movements" The point of a simulator it to train your mind to "think like your in the plane" it dosn't matter what plane you train with (the SuperCup in FMS works nice) as long as your training your mind and fingers to be able to orientate correctly.

I hear ya. I have been getting used to the orientation and feeling with FMS flight sim. I've been practicing with it quite a bit, and have grown much more comfortable while flying. I know the SuperCub is easy to fly, but I am still nervous about crashing it.

:) Just picked up my receiver at the Hobby Shop. The guys there were very helpful. I am also in the process of setting up my desk top to be fully dedicated to the new flight simulator that I will be buying soon. I got a 19" wide format flat panel monitor.
Anyway lets hope the wind dies down soon. I had a very busy week so far and can't wait to try my luck again at taking off and landing.
By the way I got a 900 m 2s 7.4 volt battery for my Blade CX which has a coke buttle for a nose now and it flies much much better, higher, and faster.
Thanks & later

This is the Super Cub model from the FMS forums, I can't say how good it is because I don't have the plane yet but I'm thinking about buying it for my first non toy plane.
This model looks like the HZ Super Cub, but it is hybrid of some other fully aerobatic. This model can do inside and outside loops, axial rolls and the like. The model is obviously missing the flat bottom wing. This model has a nice set of ailerons. An unmodified SC does not, it's a 3 channel. It would be cool of the HZ Super Cub flew like this, it does not. All in all it is a very cool version, but it won't teach you what it's like like to fly a real Hobbyzone SC. It has thrust that has to be twice what a stock SC is.
