Ouch!! Thats Why I don't fly gas, balsa, or both. Have you ever see a $595 RC get hit by a 20 buck rocket Going 999 Fps? ( it's kinda fun to aim at the jerks at the next field if they come to ours!!!!! P.S. LOTSA FLAME HAHAHAHAHA!!!(heehee).

I love the way the Turbines sound - but I cant imagine slamming a plane that costs as much as my car into the ground :)

Here is another one - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ENcIZVx-o9c&mode=related&search= Complete with Jet Fuel fires.

The best turbine plane video ive seen are these: http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=b52+turbine+&search=Search

A B-52 with 8 turbines!! Video of it's maiden flight, it flying and.....its destruction :(

The B52 with 8 turbines is incredibly impressive and really awful; to see it get taken out!

8 turbines at $4,000 each. $32,000. Thats a lot of money to stuff into the ground.

I know turbines start at around $2500. What's the cheapest way to get a jet including all the electronics and all? And no, don't worry, I've no inclination to buy one. :)

32 Large? Whoa! And I thought I needed a sponsor! Suddenly I feel better about not being a Branson type of overachiever- but he woulda had a ball piling it in!

The bigger they are...... WHAP!

At some point you have to run the Fun/Cost Ratio calculation... well, SOME of us do, he said ever so humbly.... :D

But they sure do sound good don't they? Screeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee WHAP!

Screeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee WHAP!I assume somebody with that kind of money is either retired or unusually well off or, more likely, the money was pooled as part of an RC club that felt it would be fun to built such a beast. I think the online videos of RC jets crashing are kind of hilarious, but the fantasticness of that 8-engined one going down was indeed unfortunate.

that is enough to make you cry (if your the pilot) Ouch... well when you have a plane going well over 100MPH plus ( I really don't know how fast they go maybe 150mph or so).... and it meets the ground, the result isn't going to be very good.

Now THERE'S an interesting thought... a monster club project! Of course it needs 2 pilots- one live and one by onboard video, with digital monitors on... everything... reporting back like the Shuttle on launch. Oh yeah... we'll need a flight engineer to monitor all that data... Next thing you know you're flying this thing by commitee!

We joke about these crashes but we have all felt the sting of the sudden return to Earth on ships that were so special they couldn't possibly crash... could they? Yep.

This was a loss to us all- just like every newbie who almost got it right and had a decision to make in light of the crumpled one-flight bird in their hand. But we keep doing it and learning and loving it along the way.

Few things in life satisfy like building (to one degree or another)- and flying a beautiful flying machine- even tho for awhile there it seemed like building sandcastles in the face of the incoming tide! :D

Fly well and you get to keep 'em! :D Make 'em complex and a lot of things can go wrong now! :D
