Well We just got in from the Newport News R/C Club "Electrics over Tidewater" event. This was a much shorter drive for us than last weekend!
Got there about 8:30 this morning to find fresh hot coffee and Donuts waiting on us!:D I knew right then we were going to have a great day! The weather was absolutely perfect with bright clear blue skies and little to no wind. There was a really good turnout with planes of all types. We got is a lot of good flying and then had a really good time watching the foamy combat.:) Then some more good flying. The wind picked up a little bit in the afternoon but was manageable. One of the club members, and I'm sorry I don't remember his name brought Chili for all to enjoy so we real nice lunch as well.
After lunch and the foamy combat we got in some more flying and watching some really nice airplanes. There were a couple of minor mishaps but nothing severe. I think the worse one was a real nice, big, P-51 that went into the tall grass and looked to have busted the gear on it. My son managed to break off his tail wheel mount from his estarter but that is easily fixable.
Then they had some awards based on pilot judging for best built up, military, foamy, and best civilian aircraft. I kind of lost track of what happened after that because I won the award for best Military with my
C-130! :D
That was quite a surprise to me since there was some really nice airplanes there today. I am truly honored!
As we were packing up for the rather 'short" drive home:D We watched a bit more flying and called it a day. Oh and we won a couple of items in the door prize awards too! an APC Prop and a set of big sticks for our radio.
A really nice day and I sure hope they do this again next year. And I would highly encourage anyone in the Mid Atlantic region to attend the next one. You "WILL" have a great time!

Thanks for the pics Bill. It was all about you and the others that showed up. It could not have turned out better considering the last minute burps with food etc. Glad you got in on the chili Pete made. It was real life saver.
By all accounts this was the biggest most successful event that our club has had thus far. Lots of planes in the air and plenty of electric chit chat going on everywhere I turned. I'm just now getting to the house and the feet are sore, back of the neck is toasted and I need to sit down and ingest everything from the day.
I believe we got a ton of video including aerial stuff and I'll be cutting that up for hours. Right now I'm gonna take a few minutes to come down and rest the feet. Be back later with some videos and more words on the day.
Thanks again for the pics and to everyone that showed today. Hope everyone had a great time.
Cheers
Bill

Alright fellas, here is a rough smattering of the days happenings. Mostly flying and not authored very well but I thought I'd get something up before we went to Williamsburg. Momma's beating me up already for delaying the family thing today.
Good winds

The video was good too!
I'll get some more pics up later as well. Got the film back this afternoon but had the VW club meeting tonight so had to do the "other" hobby thing.

I'm trying to cut up some better clips with more resolution tonight. Your 130 will be one of them. A fella from the RCGROUPS thread remembered you from the Hodges thing.

Those are great photos Bill. Even got me in my Quique stance. Too bad I can't fly like him.

That Ultimate inverted over the runway is insane! Wish I would have been able to see that one fly. Next year I will definitely get more volunteers and take more time to see the goings-on. Kinda like going on vacation with a camcorder stuck to your head. Didn't get to see what was going on around me.

Man that fooled me big time. Bill just informed me that the Ultimate was actually on the grass upside down. Really deceptive.

All the e-mails, PMs and comments about EOT 2006 so far have been overwhelmingly positive. Everyone in the club is pleased as punch that it went so well and the feeling is that another one next year is definitely in the cards and possible a 2 day event in 2008. We're gonna have to do some parking lot expanding if things keep going as they are.
From all of us at NNPRCC EOT 06 to all that came a big thank you for making this a success.

Here is a short video of the field. Sorry about the shaky video but my camera mount had broke loose on one side and was less stable than I thought it would be. It was still securely attached to the plane it just allowed it to kind of flap in the breeze... anyway, you can see how nice the filed really is from up here!:D

Quality shirt with pocket. I was told that if I had shirts made that they had to have the pocket..

We made it in the magazine!!!! We got an awesome 4 page write up in the OVER HERE column written by Dereck Woodward. It is in the January issue of Quiet & Electric Flight International. http://www.qefimagazine.com/ A lot of folks aircraft and a few faces made it in to the article so get out there and get your copy if you can.
I was stoked enough about the success of the event and getting my ugly mug and name mentioned in the mag just caps off what was already a great Christmas.
Good winds fellas
