To the Moderators of wattflyer,
First, thanks for the time you have given to set up and run such a site. I truly hope it is successful. I must air one gripe however. This has to do with having the user re-size any photo before posting. I saw a different reply you had made to another user about not having the software to automatically resize pics as on RCU & even a few links to download some freeware to do so. This is a major problem for me, and I’ll bet for many, as some don’t have the software nor do they wish to download stuff from the net to quickly resize photos. The key word here is quickly. One of the great things about RCU is the ability to throw up almost any pic and have it posted. No fuss, No muss! And, the old adage, a picture is worth a thousand words, is absolutely true. This, (the ability to quickly post and view pics), greatly enhances and increases the back and forth flow of information which is after all the whole reason for these sites. Much information will fall through the cracks because most of us working stiffs don’t have the time it takes to resize all photos they wish to post, so we don’t. Information and ideas not conveyed. I signed up to this site and will contribute, and I do appreciate your efforts. But when it comes to posting pics of my ideas or successful mods, systems etc.. I don’t have the time. I don’t normally post pics over at RCG either for the same reasons. Best of luck with this site, and please, snake that auto-resize software from RCU. LOL!!

Hey Rick,
Thanks for your input as it is well recieved! I think the manual process of having to resize photo's will be short lived as (per Marc's message), he will work on hacking the software for Wattflyer. If anyone can make it happen Marc will. I personally use Macromedia Fireworks to resize my photo's and have never thought different, but understand where you are coming from. I am sure it will be a short lived problem when Marc gets the long term solution in place. Thanks for your contributions and we appreciate you being a part of the Wattflyer family!

Great to hear it!! I don't normally photo document my builds, but when I know it may be of some intrest to others I'll snap a pic or two and post. It's also fun to post and see others' planes. Thanks.

Rick,

I'll elevate this code modification on my "to do" list.

Admin,
How's it going with the auto re-size fearure? There have been several threads where I have a pic to post that is relevent, but alias, fussing with re-sizing is a PITA. I also tried to use the picassa (sp?) and also the other one and they were no help. I already have picture managing software, The wife uses it and it was not compatible with picassa, it wouldn't find my pics. After an hour of wasted time with not one photo resized, I'd had enough. Does this site not have some ties with RCU? Will they not let you copy the auto software they use? I really do want to see this site become successful and wish to be a contributor in more than just words. Thanks.
Rick

Yep the file size is way, way too small 100k should be it. That is an average 640x480 image......

You know it is funny...I never knew I didnt have to resize my photo's before posting them @ RCU. Creature of habit I guess :).

This pic is 89K and would not post to the for sale forum. That was my first picture post so I assumed it was the limit. I will check again - or maybe it is lower in the for sale forum...

It works now. I know it told me my pic was too big in the for sale forum before said the limit was 79k or 72k.

I went back and checked and it works. Much better now - thanks!

whew....that is good news. if anyone else is seeing issues lmk.

As far as the rcu code we use there it is totally different. rcu is based on asp language and wattlfyer based on php. I just have to get into the code but have been out of the office and still playing catch up. Hopefully the 100k limit will eliminate most issues for now.
