I have a bench in my garage that I work on in the summer months. Went out there today to find this guy. He is sitting on a dubro 3 inch tire, just to give you his size. I used my macro setting and got up close and personal!

Yes, Both mine and Dave's shots are from digital. I used a Minolta Dimage Z1 for mine.

You took those shots with a $300 digital camera??? I can't believe the quality of those shots. Thats amazing!

Isn't the Z1 a 3.2 MP camera???

How is it for action shots? My son is on the swim team and the pcitures are always blurry.

I took mine with my AP camera (pentax optio s5z) $150 camera

I got a cool one of a moth...let me find it

Kosh

Its a 2 year old camera and yes only 3.2 MP. Its does just ok at that kinda stuff if left on auto. The Canon S3 might be a better choice as it just seems to todo everything well. Only reason I even say the Canon was because Susan (A member here) has one and the thing ROCK's.
It has very fast focus and got a Styker on a fast overhead pass {pic below}.
The video is fully zoomable (Is that a word?) at 640 x 480 @ 30 fps and does video in .AVI format.

Dragonflys are cool, I might be late in trying to get one here. That green thing decided to fly away as I took that close up, I saw him lunge at me through the view screen. Good thing nobody was around cause I screamed like a girl and jumped about 3 feet.

That dog eats grasshoppers, but I have seen a leaf blow by and catch him off guard. He's a bigger chicken than I am.

I'll have to strap some wings on his back and get a picture, he might fly!

Awesome pictures! Although, I think I might have nightmares about that bug.....

Ok, I have to get my 2 cents in for my camera that Kosh already mentioned. I've only had it a couple months, and barely know how to use it, but I think its great!

I don't have any bug pictures....but here's a few more pics, and a link to a fun video I took last weekend. The flower is using super macro. Notice the incredibly correct color on the beautiful plane. :)

Susantd,

The pink plane is cool. When I snapped a picture of it in Fry's parking lot a few weeks ago I sent it to another WattFlyer. He was impressed. Nice job.

Enjoy the fly-in this weekend. If my wife wasn't working I'd talk her into going over to Yakima under the pretext of visiting the grand-kids! :D

I should be picking up my own EasyStar and DX6 today, so I hope to take my first RC flight this Saturday.

Cheers...

Thanks and good luck on your first flight! I think the Easy Star is the best plane to start with, at least of the ones I've flown. I have flown pinkie quite a few times now, and have had several crashes too. :) My ex flew my Star last weekend, and busted it in half....I just went to a picnic table at the park and glued it back together, and flew it more that same day.

Did you get a chance to check out the TP streamer video?

Let's hear it for foam. I called the LHS and my plane and the DX6 are in so getting to work at 6:30 so that I cold leave early was not done in vain! Let's see besides the EasyStar and DX6 I think some foam safe CA and a LiPo (or two) are in order. :D

And yes, I saw TP stramer video. The delta wing flyer was good!

Cheers...

Ok, I'm moving up from the easy to fly forgiving Easy Star.....

I got a F-27 C RTF tonight and will be flying tomorrow....maybe :D

Be sure to get some videos of that!!!!!!!

A guy that we fly with has one and they sound and look amazing!!!!

He had to be doing at least 80!

Good Luck!

Video? hahaha A plane probably needs to be in the air longer than one minute to get a video. I tried flying the F27 - twice - each flight was less than a minute and ended in a crash. Maybe I'm not quite ready for that much speed. I will definitely try again, but with a trainer cable next time. :D

Susan

PS The plane did not have any damage, just a slightly bent and discolored nose. :)

And on the Macro topic, I found this one I took quite a few years ago. I need to find the original as it's pretty impressive. I just got a Cannon SLR w/ a macro lens. Can't wait to try it out.

If that's a Wolf Spider, we have loads of them around here. I wouldn't mind them if they weren't so darned aggressive.

Dave, they're ALL poisonous (that is an exaggeration, but it's too late once you find out). You don't want them to share their venom with you. Some leave the wound necrotic, others leave a nice oozing scab that takes about a week to dry out and heal. Ask me how I know.

Looks like a wolf spider- they can jump pretty impressively. They have never bitten me either, so I leave them alone. Matter of fact- I leave them ALL alone. Okay, when my wife screams in the bedroom, they meet an untimely end via a rolled up newpaper. Other than that we live mutually separate existences.

We all know how hard it is to get some of these critters to hold still for a photos without the girlfriend yelling "Why would you do that"? Good stuff, Makes me want to try more macro here now.

Thanks, Kosh

The secret is to have the camera charged and ready to go at all times. I cant count the instances where I saw something cool only to find out the battery was dead or the memory card was missing...
