View Full Version : Motor Comparison Question
09-12-2005, 02:41 AM
I have been flying glow and gas for 17 years but new to electric - I have a Himax 2025-4200 running a 6:6 to 1 gear system that I am using on a fancyfoam SU-29 with an APC 11x4.7. I also have an AXI2212/26 outrunner - is this motor similar in power - are they somewhat interchangable?? I have a stick mount for it and would like to use it on a fancyfoam Extra 300L - any thoughts???
Thanks for your assitance.:)

A rudimentary way to compare the "power" of two motors is to compare their maximum voltage (cell count) and current ratings. The one that's rated for a higher voltage and/or current is the motor that is "more powerful." Actually, it's the motor that can HANDLE more power, because it's only more powerful if you use a combination of battery and prop that causes more power to course through the motor.
The AXi 2212/26 is definitely not a comparable motor. IIRC, both voltage and current ratings are signifigantly lower than the Himaxx 2025-4200. IMHO, the 2212/26 would be good for foamies in the 10oz range.
