Can somebody post some sites for free plans for the blue fan-fold foamy profile airplanes. I'm currently flying a Monte which has been great with an AXI 2212/26 motor, and I'm looking for some similar designs in the 16 oz. range. Thanks.:D

Good luck with that. The Nasty is a little more rounder at the edges but quite similar to the Monte which does excellent hovers and torque rolls.

You could try www.3dbatix.com (http://www.3dbatix.com) The Extra 330s is a very nice plane. If you are looking for a 3d plane that can fly like a trainer.

You're right, there's a lot of stuff there. Thanks to Ben-Rod too.

GG, How did it go with the maiden flight of the Nasty?

Ran an E-flight 400 4200 kv on a 6:1 gearbox, 3s12100 power.
First tried an 11X4.7 prop. Did a beautiful impression of a helicopter. No real forward speed, just hung on the prop. Switched to a 10X8 and it's sweet.
Flys around on 1/3 throttle, standard throws are way to much for me. I switched to 25 and 50% throws D/R, and mixed in 50% expo, untill I get comfortable with her. I added landing gear tonight, took her back out and she ROG's beautifully.
If anyone is interested, I also found an old forum that has tiled and colored plans for a P-51, P-40, and a Zero, all flat foam jobs. No need to paint, print the plans, cut out, cut foam using plans, and glue plan to foam. Already have a complete bird. Plans cover both sides, top, and bottom of the plane. Check em out.

I've done "The Nasty" and just completed building the Extra 300s from 3dbatix.com and I really enjoyed the Nasty. If you caught it I said "enjoyed," had a rough meeting with mother earth, that's why I buit the Extra 300. The Nasty is really a nice plane to learn 3D on. I learned a lot flying that plane. Just don't do like I did and try to fly it in 15mph winds and gusts up to 18. Took my poor little nasty and tossed it straight into the ground. Split the nose and cracked the fuse all the way to under the wing :(. I'll build another one as it's a great plane to fly. I'll let you know how the Extra 300s workes out.:)

I know you will like the 330s I've been flying that plane a long time. One of my favorites. I started a thread on it at rcgroups and it got to be pretty big. If you went in the thread at 3dbatix mine is the pink and blue with checkers and also the yellow. Even did a conversion and turned it into an Edge 540, Turned out to be a sweet plane and is now my fav. You will like the it knife edges no coulping problems at all. cant wait to here your flight report. What power set up are you running?

Hey,

Hmmm. I might try this.

I'm using a TowerPro BM2409Y motor, 10x4.7 APC prop, 3s1200 Lipo. On the wattmeter it shows 115 watts @WOT rpms I'm not to sure on the readings but it shows 5510 rpms. Is that enough for this plane?

i have just completed a 200%scale up of glens "flutterby" this thing is huge! im using the power plant with folding prop and gearboxfrom my dead rambler ep with only minor trimming i sandwiched the motormount from a gws between the motor and gearbox so now its a stick mount ...used esentially a slowstick fuse and an 8 cell nimh battery ..the thing flys great in high winds...the last flight was in 20mph + winds. i used 1/2'' blue board for construction...

Hey George, I've been designing some EDF foamies and have had lots of fun doing it. I just set up my own website with FREE pdf Downloads, which include the templates and construction manual with helpful photos and graphics. Check it out if you want, www.FoamiePlans.com.au

I'll also be adding helpful Electric Info to help you choose the right LiPo battery, ESC & motor setups.

Fly Safe! :tc:
