Well here are a few that was taken today,it was way more windy then I first thought but my camrea person was here so I still done it,I would guess the wind was blowing to gust about 20mph.

it is really hard to get it up into a hover with the wind when I only have very little elevator.I fly both my planes off the same set up on the radio so I Cant change throws. But it really flys well.

Himax 2015 with a 12X6 GWS prop and Either a 850 Poly Quest 3 cell or a TP(Thunder Power) Pro Lite 1320 .Doesnt need the TP to fly it fly just fine with the 850 but you asked what I used so I told. Its a really great flying plane,I had read and seemed alot was disapointed and I thought I would be to but I'm not Im glad I put it together I only wish I would have done it sooner.

When I got mine, I also looked around to see what other people were saying about it. I heard lots of negative comments also, but when I finally got mine flying, I couldnt be happier, flies great! Just have to be smart about the set-up and build, fixing its weak points.....Nice videos and flying!

I have replaced my E-flite 400 motors with Permax 4G direct drives. Anyone who flies foamies, needs to check these motors out. Plenty of power, even in a 10-15m an hour wind, no problem. I use these on my Foamtana's with 13 x 6E props! I also use Phoenix 25 esc and 3 cell 11.1 v 2200 mah li-po's. Best fun my son and I have ever had.
Thanks

Welcome to the site,Where do you get the Permax motor's at? I never heard of them. The Himax motors are good for the money I guess, the out runners are kinda cheaply made I guess,As In if you fly into something with one it could mess it up.

I bought mine from Hobby People. I think Tower hobbies carry them too. Cost about $89 but well worth the money. If you break the shaft, you can take it back to the store and get a new motor or send to Hitec and they fix it for free! I've broken 2 so far from my plane going nuts or battery losing power...lol!My Foamtana weighs about 2lbs total and I get get great verticle and speed with a G4. The E-flight 400 is ok for smaller applications but bang for the buck... G4 hands down. Himax hasn't done anything for me. I have tried a couple including an outrunner..waste of $$$. Same goes ofr E-flite 370, very weak.Hope that helps you.

mat B , Do you have a catalog number from Hobby People or Tower Hobbies for the Permax G4? Turning the larger prop has got me interested.

Yes a Foamtana is a foamy version of the Foamtana. Flies great, 3D and all. You can use this with or without landing gear. I bought mine from Darrol Cady (http://www.pacifier.com/~dcady/Foamtana/Foamtana-electric.htm) but I traced out the parts before I built it. I have made 3 more of my own and my buddies have also made their own. We have awesome fun battling it out in the skies as we all have the same motors, servos and esc's.For Permax motors go to:http://www.hobbypeople.net/guru/kws_919878014.asp.I forgot how much it weighs, but my 3 cell li-po weighs the most. I bought 30 li-po's from China and we all shared them like hungry little kids. I have sold the surplus except 2 of them to Rc-ers online.
