I just downloaded the new version of G3. It is really cool! Clicked on update and there it was!

A couple of new photo fields are available and Night Flying is added. There are too many items that changed to list here but it is a bunch!

The electric motor sounds are a lot more realistic sounding is the first thing I noticed.

If you have dial up you may want to get a disk! It said it was like a 44 hour download at 56k or something like that. Took about 5 minutes with cable!

Anyway, I'm back off to play some more!;)

PS. The first time I tried it it geeked then I realized I did not have the controller plugged in... don't know if that is what caused it but I hooked it up and it worked the second time around.

The new RealFlight G3.5 has a Blade CX type heli called Heli-Max Axe EZ. My throttle would not lift it more than a few inches from the ground. Before the next flight, I put the throttle trim all the way up. The blades spun but it didn't lift off. Then using the throttle it reached all the height I could want. I hope this tip helps others. Dave

Thanks again Firemanbill. Darn, you sure do answer a lot of posts. You have helped me in the past, and are typically the first person to respond with replies. Thank you for your continued enthusiasm for the sport and the willingness to help us newbies.

Ok, with that brown nosing out of the way, I need to explain further about the G3. I purchased a used G3 on eBay. I do a lot of selling and shopping there, and typically do real well. I have not yet received the G3, but I'm having concerns that registration might be an issue. Did I screw up buying a used copy? It doesn't appear to be boot legged from the picture in the auction ad. Will I still be able to register it under my name, or if it has been previously registered, will I still be able to download the updated 3.5? I hope I'm making sense here.

No problem, I'm just glad to be able to help when I can. It's kind of in my nature I guess...

Now I'm going to make an educated guess and say that if the produt was previously registered you can register as long as the previous owner emails realflight and let's them know they have sold it. I seem to remember reading that somewhere but I'm not sure where.

As long as you get the interlink, aka controller, you should be ok as that is the key to the software. you can copy the disk all you want but if you don't have the interlink the software won't run.

Thanks. So my next question is this. Will I be able to buy a cable to link using my Futaba 6EX? If so, where do I buy the cable and how will it connect to my PC if in fact I need the controller that came with the software to link up? The software is coming with the G3 controller, but I would rather use my Futaba.

If he sold you everything that comes with it originally there is indeed a cable that goes from your Futaba to the interlink controller, a buddy cord style cable, and the you plug the interlink into the pc. Again the interlink is the key code so to speak for the sim so you can't bypass it. But when you set it up that way you use your radio as the controller.

Can't take that long to download if you have high-speed. Can someone please post the URL for the download?

http://www.realflight.com/updates.html

it is 260 meg so if you don't have high speed you can contact support for a cd for a "nominal fee"

I'd think even with dial up it shouldn't take too long. start it before you go to bed and it'll be done by morning!

Ok Bill, I got the sim in the mail today. Everything is here. Been playing with it and it's a hoot. I went to register, and sure enough, it's been registered previously. What next? I have been on hold at GP for over an hour.

"please continue to hold a representative will be with you shortly!"

Man I hate calling computers! If you don't talk to them shortly I would send them an email at rfsupport@greatplanes.com Like I said before I think you have to get the previous owner to email them and de-register it... or whatever the proper term for that is.

I've been reading lots of threads where users of the 3.5 are trashing it. Saying it's lost it physics. Many are reverting back to the previous version prior to 3.5v install. Any thoughts out there.

One thing I noticed was the 1903 Wright Flyer doesn't exactly fly like it did. I flew the G3 version and it flew, well, like you would expect the scale version to fly - slow, underpowered, etc. The G3.5 version can do loops and rolls? Huh?

I also noticed the new-for-G3.5 Helimax Axe CP will break it's landing skids if it even slightly slides sideways on take-off or landings. There are others but those two were the most noticable for me. I might go back to G3 myself but I haven't decided yet. One thing that 3.5 has is the little Helimax Axe EZ that is the only one my 6 year old can fly and he likes it. He's learned to fly the Blade CX from playing with the sim.

I have just finished Beta Testing the latest G3.5.044 and i am happy wih results. (My only gripe. is scale headed heli have retreating blade stall effect to opposit side.)

I have learnt so much from a sim (G3) and am pleased with the free additions and Flight charicteristics of G3.5 (The upgrade ro 3 to 3.5 is free)

There are issues with controlers. THey are great and all. but a batch has a week Spring pin. (Easy to fix and easyer to send to KE and get a replacement)

Cant live without G3. lately i have spent more time on G3 than doing anything else (Except working) :)

This 1st post is over 2 years old.

all you need to do is hit the additional options on start up then click registration/updates and it will downolad the new version

Open up your G3.0 sim and upload from there. You do realize you need the original G3.0 flight sim to be able to download G3.5 for free.....
