All:

I am fundimentally a beginner. OK, I used to fly Helis and the odd plane 20 years ago, but now at 52, I am a beginner. Back then there was not much choice in Sims. I hope this is the right place/catagory for this thread.

I was fortunate that I had access to 2 of the top contenders for our wallet's contents. FMS is free so hey, what can you say. My LHS was of NO HELP AT ALL! They just want to Sell G3.5 and as many add ons as they can. Everything they have in stock is always the best isn't it? I figured as a beginner my opinion would be worth a bit. I have read a lot on the net about all available programs.

I have spent the last month reviewing AeroFly, RealFlight G3 and FMS. IMHO AeroFly wins hands down! But, I have a REAL soft spot for FMS as it is free and does an admirable job considering.

RealFlight IMHO (Again) is overpriced and simply out there to keep bleeding the consumer of cash, with add ons etc.

I like AeroFly because it is flexible, You can get it at a good price without the crappy dummy controller that wears out fast, and use your own TX. I use a Spektrum DX6 TX with AeroFly and love it.

I use all 6 channels, the 2 switches are for Gear and Flaps. I connect the collective to the Throttle for training purposes on the Helis.

I wanted to start this thread because I think it warrants a lot more discussion and general communication. This thread is Aimed at AeroFly owners, prospective owners and fans. I am getting into the models and crashing them all with expert precision. :)

I am searching for the pefect trainer, intermediate and Expert Plane and Heli. I have downloaded almost every model and Scenery I can fine and am in the process of starting to evaluate them. So far I have really only concentrated on Planes.

This is where all of us come in, especially those who are a little more experienced. I think it would be great for everyone to chime in a help with the Perfect Aerofly Setup, that generally mimics actual conditions in the field for all the catagories I have mentioned.

So Far I Like the PhotoRealistic Scenery "WinZeln" but it does lack the features of the Virtual Flying Fields. I have yet to find a virtual field that I like.

I love the Cessna 172 and 177 Model Simulations that I downloaded from
Arthur's Home Page as a good all round 5 channel trainer.

I would love to hear from others, regarding wind settings, speed etc. etc. as I have not delved into them yet. I can take off and land now quite a few planes.

Thanks for reading this far. I hope you all participate.
