Very Impressive numbers. Is that Parkflyer 400 EDF a 60mm Fan, simular to the Wattage Powerfan?

The fan tested is the same fan that comes with the Wattage Vector which is the Wattage PowerFan. Sorry if I posted confusing information here. The fan is the same as this:

Instead of spending $27 for the fan, spend $40 and get a Turbo Vector plane and the fan.

Hi Vinnie,

18 oz. of thrust is about all that you will get out of the powerfan, it might be interesting to see the results of that motor in a WeMoTec Minifan. I'd bet you could about double the thrust output at the same voltage.

Tom - really - the WeMoTec is that much more efficient ? I have a WeMoTec 480 minifan that I bought for testing a year ago and it's still in the box. Is this the minifan that most use ?

Yes thats the one, I'm guessing it will be pretty close, at really high RPM's like over 50K it can produce over 4 lb of thrust, but it takes like 700 Watts of power to get that high. You should get at least 2 lb of thrust.

chart...actually this is interesting as it shows that something isnt quite right....as thrust increases to the square, power increases to the cube.

in the chart you can see that power for the powerfan is showing an increase, but only approaching the square.

this defies physics in fact.

the relationship is between volumetric v flow v area. i.e. cubed v flow v squared

so as long as you get just one data point, you can generate these graphs, albeit far less accurate than the ones ive got here with multiple points.

You'd be doing yourself a BIG favour if you can test in the minifan also as well as putting your wares to work in the other wemos.

They are the RC standard pretty much.

You might want to look at what could fit into the Alfa Fan also.

I'll put the WeMoTec in the queue for testing. I have alot to run this weekend but not sure I can get to the WeMoTec. I ran tests on the Wattage PowerFan with the 400DF and 400DH and the difference was an increase in RPM to 32,000, which is 7,000 above the rating for this fan but also had a cost of almost double the amps at 32 amps from the 400DF tests. So the 400DF seems appropriate for many of these fans.

Interesting info - more once I get the tests done.

its excellent that you are putting this out there in fact.

The only reason i mention it is due to the reference that wemo has.

it is possible to back reference it to other fans, but since they are so popular, it wouldnt hurt.

One other fan you might be interested in (since it is so different), is the vasa 55 and 65.

you'll need a lower kv motor to do it though.

The nice about the 400DF in teh WPF is the weight. The 400DF is 46grams and the stock 380 motor is 81! :eek: On a wattage Viking that will cut 3 ounces (10% of the AUW) and make alot more power out than stock.

I too look forward to further testing in the WeMo fans.
