Thanks to all of you who wrote to get my article on E BOT construction. Although it was very large, I was able to figure how to convert to PDF, and the article appears in the January issue of RC soaring Digest.(www.rcsoaringdigest.com (http://www.rcsoaringdigest.com)). Thanks again for the support.

Awesome conversion. The pdf article printer hansomely.
Much appreciated your sharing this with us.
I'm contemplating such a BOT conversion, as I have an AXI 2820 motor, but would like to use a lipo pack.
Any suggestions?
Thanks again, you are a true inspiration.

Hi Don,

I did a conversion of the ARF and used the AXI 2820. My write-up is here:

http://www.wattflyer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=3234

I kept a bit of the nose plug for a firewall and for weight and mounted my motor inside the fuse. Cooling is through an additional servo that raises the front of the canopy like a scoop with the throttle. I am using a 3S 3300mAH Lipo for power. Just another angle...

Thanks,

Franny

How's the performance with the 2820/10? And what is your AUW with the LiPo pack?

About 66oz, so about 6 oz over the plans. Not too bad. It does balance correctly though. The performance is great! Especially when you are talking a 10' wingspan. No problems with heat, but it probably helps that the motor doesn't run for long. Also, that steel plug acts to absorb heat from the motor.
