i'm building an electric free-flight plane
i will need 30 to 40 amps for 25 seconds - i plan on using ten cells.
what is the best AND smallest cell to use? weight is important
thanks

In cylinder cells, the GP1100 Nimh is about your only choice - we use them in LMR models at 35-40 amps and they weigh only 21 gms or so. If you are allowed to, you could also use a Polyquest XP 2100 3S pack at 172 gms with a continuous rating of 36 amps

Hi,

The Intellect 1200 cells seem like they would be ok as well. Have a look at https://www.unipros.com/main.asp?sid=389353&pgid=loosecells and click on the 'view graphs' link below the battery. Same weight as the GP but cheaper and the discharge graphs look better.

I stand corrected; if the IB cells match the graphs, they would be significantly better. Isn't it astonishing how rapidly cells get superceded?
