What is the normal fee that is charged for flight lessons ? I have been thinking about trying to find an electric club here in Orlando and I am just curious what the going rate is.

Some guys will show you for free. You generally need an AMA membership to fly at a club but some folks fly at local parks.

Every club I was ever part of had free flight instruction. You would have to join AMA and the club to get training though. A good deal IMHO.
Best of luck!

Hi-
If you find a flying club nearby, then you will most likely find someone who is willing to teach you for free. I joined a sailplane club in July and one of the club members brought a glider for me to learn on and spent time with me every weekend out at the field teaching me how to launch, find thermals, land, etc. I'm sure formal lessons would have cost me far more than my monthly club dues.
Good luck!

if you cant for whatever reason get an instructor, try the chase view in the simulators to get the feel for it all.
then move to simple circuits in the simulator (i.e. learning yank and bank and flying towards yourself).
and then learn how to maintain heights and directions, and then gradually get lower and lower to do some landings.
the great thing in simcs are that you can go over and over again and put in wind gusts, strengths and so on.
when you do go out finally, try and find at least someone to look over your plane and even better still, buddy up unti, they tell you you are good to go.
the other method is to just get out there, but be prepared to buy new bits...
