I was just wondering if it would make a plane much more begginer friendly if you would add some small flaps to the wings. You could take sone styro and form it and the attach it some how to make a better plane fly easier for a begginer.
Just Thinking.

If you ad flaps to an airfoil you'll have a higher Clmax and of course a higher Cd.
Which means that you can obtain more lift from the wing at a given speed so you can fly slower but could also have a rather unfavourable lift/drag ratio.

Airfoils must be designed specifically for the aircraft and it’s operating conditions. Adding flaps without doing any calculations is generally not a good idea.

You could of course give it a try and see what happens. :D

Rather than flaps, the glider folks with better radios are going to "spoilerons". The problem with flaps is: On a missed approach when you want to trottle up to go around, retracting the flaps increases the stall speed. If your battery is running low or your power setup (motor, esc, battery, prop) does not allow for a LOT of power, you will end up with a stall and hard landing or crash! Spoilerons create drag to allow the plane to quit flying and get on the ground, but on a missed approach and go around, do not change the stall speed. Check the threads on the sailplane forum.

Don't forget that adding flaps also increases the pitching moment You might need more elevator authority depending on how large your Flaps are...
