I was going to try to retime a 350 brushed. I have the C ratio gear box and a stock GWS motor to get it flying for now. I ordered some of these (http://www.bidproduct.com/part/Product_view_MOTOR_3.html) from China for $3 and I'm going to it.
As far as weight, other than paint I'm building per the guide.

It's an ARF. About all that's left is hooking up the controls.

Did you write the CD that came with the kit tallflyer? There are some great tips on there that I use on all my foamies now.

So I was getting ready to install my electronics but I can't find where the COG is suppose to be. Where do you have yours?

Nice looking plane by the way. I should have done a camo job since the CD had such great tips but I got lazy. I also went too high on the tail when I cut the fuse in half. I think it will be ok.

My CG is 2 1/2 inches back of the front edge of the wing, Here is also a picture of where I put all the radio gear. I used a cdrom motor which is much lighter then the GWS type 350 motor so I had to put my Battery way up front as you can see in the picture, I also used my heat shrink tubing method to setup all the linkages its perfect every time.
Method cut a little piece of wire for teh servo side and the control horn side slip a piece of heat shrink tubing about 1 1/2 inches long over one side the wire now push the other side of the wire thru the tubing and its a tight fit already I like to clamp my ailerons flat with the side brace and then with everything snug in place heat the tubing with my soldering iron to hold it all in place.
Ten I put a little dab of CA on both sides just for extra strength!
Works perfect and no ez-conectors are required. also makes the wire stiffer and there is no slope in the wire!

I was going through my box of unsold or unused kits and I found a bag at the bottom with the parts for another p47 so guess what I'm building!
But wait going to try some new hardware setups for this plane so stay tunned
for more information!

New hardware set ups??? Inquiring minds want to know.
I'm having a hard time with the ailerons. I hinged the elevator before I painted and it worked great. I ran out of the tape I had and having a hard time finding a suitable replacement. I need this bird flying by the weekend. I'm about to use CA hinges and epoxy if I can't get something to stick.

Just a thought do you have any floppy disk laying around break one open an cut the mylar (the disk part into some hinges I use them on all my GWS kits and they last forever!
Oh yeah the secret is!

And the secret???
I went ahead and used CA hinges on the ailerons and it looks like it's going to work great. If the winds will cooperate I'm going to fly this bird in the morning.
And now back to the secret...

My batteries are fully charged and I'm going to try and fly in the morning before work! around 7:00am Im going to try and get 4 packs in!
Anyways the secrets are I want to try and make the plane using the smae setup as one of my 3D planes and install the servos in the lower fuselage by making cutouts for the servos, rec, speed control I will also be able to use ez-connectors to install the control rods for the Ailerons and Elevator which will make the hookups even faster then the method I used on my other version.
Stay tunned for more pictures.

Woohoo it went great. :ws:First flight there is little or no wind, I point it at the horizon, and give it a gentle toss. It climbs out beautifully.:tc: After my first turn I kind of started playing catch up. :red: It was a little squirlly for me with the COG at 2.5 so I moved it up about .75 of an inch and that helped me a lot. I will start working it back when I get more comfortable. All in all I landed maybe 6 times so it was a success as far as I'm concerned. I'm not sure how long I flew but I still had juice to spare when I came in.
I need more power . I have the new brushed motors to try and retime them but I don't know if I can wait that long. :silly: I have a 2410-08 but the only 3 cell lipo I have is a 1800 mAh pack that weighs a ton. I might get a 1000 mAh or less pack to try with the TP motor. Sounds like I need to order more stuff. ;-)
It will satisfy my need for airtime great for now though. My last few flights I managed to do a couple of nice loops and some rolls. This is a great deal for $20.
