I may be wrong but I think they are not the same thing... It seems it goes up each time you go over so many posts...

I mean look at Electricflyguy... he has more points than anyone and he is still a one. I bet he'll go to a 2 when he goes over 1000 posts though.

brnyrbbl
06-10-2007, 11:13 PM
That makes sense Bill.. one way to see if that scenario is true, is after you have 17 more posts (4,500) you should got to 7 on rep points.

Drop on over at my place sometime and I'll green ya. We don't hand them out like mints but we make them count for something. The more points you get, the 'power' you get to affect others, either positively or negatively. -Rod-

So how does the system work? Last week I remember in my UserCP there were a couple of green, a red and a grey now there are five green, two are blank

Tinman
06-11-2007, 05:10 PM
hummm I think I know but could be mistaken.

The red means someone gave you a negative,

If you see green its positive from a person who has higher rep then you.

If its gray or blank it means someone gave you positive rep that has lower rep then yourself... I think thats what I heard.

There's no easy answer to that question. Here's a partial screenshot from my own Admincp. As an Admin changes the values, how the rep system behaves changes as well. Some admins are stingy, some are pretty liberal, some refuse to use it at all:

I'm not really into foam that much, as you've probably already seen my current balsa build (http://www.wattflyer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=13228). My first Foamy was a cheap Mustang RTF that died a horrible death. Since then I've learned a whole lot more about repairing planes:< and figured I'd give it another try. The Cox Christen Eagle is a wonderful plane.:ws: I was suprised at how well built it was. Another surprise was it came with a brush-less motor/ESC and Lipo battery.:ws: Install a few servos "laying" around and a RX, shes ready to fly. Very stable flying characteristics as is typical of Biplanes. So I've been happy with it. It's one of my least expensive planes! The folks at Cox are wonderful also. I had bought a P40 and a Corsair RTF from their micro line of products for my kids and the Corsair would not take a charge on the battery. I figured it was the charger and called for an RMA# to send it in. They said the on/off switch was probably in the on position when the plane was boxed up letting the battery drain to zero. They shipped me a whole complete new plane and told me to keep the old one for spare parts.:tc:

To answer a question asked:

Members can add to other Members reputation via the http://www.wattflyer.com/forums/images/buttons/reputation.gif. If you like a post by another member or it helped you out (etc) you add to the members reputation. Another word for it would be credability.

When a user adds to your reputation, you gain their respective rep power. So lets say user X adds to your reputation for a great post. If user X has 4 rep points, you gain those points.

So if you have 16 points and I added to your reputation for a great question. My Rep power allows me to add 10 points to your reputation. So you should now have 26.

The higher the Rep power the more points you can award another user.

If you hover over the green dot next to your rep power, it has a aviation text association with each reputation level. Kind of a fun theme.

Thanks Airhead;-) I built it when I was younger... about 16 years younger:Q I was suprised to see that Great Planes still makes that kit. Guess I can still get parts now. I'm thinking of redoing the Monokote and taking the time to sheet the wings. Think the little extra weight will be a big deal?

Thanks Mike,

Although this answers the "use" of rep it still doesn't answer "how" the "power" level increases or what the rules are for that. Could you give us some insight?
There are two ways for your power level to increase. A: Users with a postive rep adding to your reputation and B: By post count and days as a member. These rules are as follow:

For every 365 days as a member you gain 1 rep point
For every 1000 posts you gain a rep point
For every 50 points of rep you gain 1 point of reputation altering power

To add (or take away) to another persons rep the user must have a minimum of 50 posts and a minimum reputation count of 10.

An administrators rep power automatically counts as 10 points. I make it an effort to reward members based on excellent information and those who are helpful to other members.

You must give reputation to 10 other users before you can add to the same user again.

I will always have a soft spot in my heart for Daisy Duke :$ and the blonde off of WKRP in Cincinatti :$.

When I lived in the LA area for a long 3 years, I was on the second level of a mall near the escalator. I saw a black hat coming up the elevator, then lots of blond hair, then a couple of things that were very outstanding and I knew right off it was Lonnie Anderson. She had her little boy with her(he was about 3 then).

She looked better in person than she did on WKRP.

I watched her walk(OK, I stalked her):tc: all through the mall and during that time no one bothered her in anyway. No requests for autographs on anything. In my experience in LA, most celebrities I saw were not bothered.

I sat next to Alan Alda, his wife and another couple and no one bothered them. They were very nice to staff and to us. We had an ordinary conversation that you might have with any stranger.

I had the opportunity to meet and speak to other celebrities and most of them were very nice and pleasant to speak with. None of that ego stuff we all hear about.

brnyrbbl

The system makes you give it to X amount of users before you can give it to the same person again even if it's been a week. You can give to a max of 10 people in a 24 hour period.

firemanbill

Why not?? Don't you like a good challenge Bill? :Q

Oh sure I do... I challenge myself to not crash my R/C planes every weekend!:<:silly::silly:

Remember guys

You can only "tie" the record for flying low hehe.

I hold part of that record... along with the rest of ya.

hehe no it doesn't :)

I'd like to"try" to fly one though.

Grab a good Flight Sim and try it out. :)

I've got Flight Sim 2004 and I routinely crash the big Jets! I have caused untold amounts of chaos and destruction at the worlds airports!:silly:

Several billion dollars worth of damage if I had to guess!
