View Full Version : Backward starting motor

I have a Ph 25 controlling an E-Flite Park 400 outrunner. If I advance the throttle slowly sometimes the motor will try and run backwards. When this happen it makes a strange noise. To fix the problem I cut the throttle and start the throttle faster. What could be causing this problem?

Hello KC, I had the same problem with 2 different motor/ESC combos, tracked it down (thanks to advice from this site) to a bad solder joint in one of the "bullet" connectors. Don't run the motor until you find it!
Brushless motors will do this (swinging back-and-forth, chattering) when only two of the 3 leads are making full contact, the 3rd one may not be broken, just loose, intermittent contact. If you jiggle the 3 wires separately and "blip" the throttle, you'll locate it.

And if that does not stop the jiggle.
Wires are broken inside the motor. GWS 2208, Me or a bad new one? Buddy took the shaft for a crash job.
