Finally, the LHS got these in, so I picked one up and got one flight in.

Here's what I think:

Overall impression - not bad, wasn't terribly impressed with the non-shrink covering on the wings (it's a plastic wrap), super easy to get ready to fly, straight forward HZ type instructions, seems solid.

Flying:
Now please understand that I'm no whiz on the sticks, and am only in my second year and learning, so my flight review may not mean much. Take off was smooth and with a short roll off grass. I noticed right away that this plane was extremely sensitive - a product of my inexperience and no expo. It took a few minutes to get used to the feeling of no expo. I flew half the stock battery just normal flight, the other half I had a little fun with. I had the clevices one hole up from the bottom, so control throw wasn't maxed out, but it had plenty for the first flight. Snaps were ok, not super fast, but decent. Inverted flight was nearly hands off. Knife edge was decent with little coupling. Hover was good at half throttle. I actually torque rolled this thing (a first for me). Landing was slow and uneventful. Overall a bit twitchy, but loads of fun.

Complaints:
I was able to get my frequency but wasn't able to figure out how to make the switch to using my Futaba 7C. The throttle on the 7C is aileron and I couldn't get anything to control throttle. Moving servos around on the receiver did nothing.

Considering the Hobby Zone Aerobird Extreme is $190, the Typhoon at $220 isn't bad considering the equipment and flight potential. I think this'll be a great bird for me to learn 3D on.

I'm intending to pick one of these up as soon as they are in the shops here in the UK (which should be really soon). I'm moving up from an Aerobird Challenger so hopefully it won't cause me to many problems to learn.
