Eflite has a new outrunner stick mount. If your axi will fit on it it would be perfect. You can see it on our site.

Do you know what the bolt spacing is on that mount, and does it keep the stock stick mount thrust line? E-Flightline has a aluminum outrunner mount that the Axi will bolt up to, but it changes the thrust line. I used one on a GWS Formosa with a 2808/24, but I had to use the lower hole in the foam and turn the mount upside down to maintain the thrustline and cowl alignment. Something you can not do in a balsa plane without alot of mods. I have seen a Axi ply mount that guys were using that maintained the thrust line on some Mini Funtana's, but I dont remember the site they were getting them from.

I'm gonna have to ask about it but being a betting person, since it just came out it will probably go nicely on the front with that particular plane in mind. I will check with my sales person tomorrow.

It will not change the thrustline. We just did a test fit and it lines up perfectly.

Sounds good Debbie. I will see if the E-Flight and Axi motors have the same bolt pattern.

I too plan to use a 2808 also in the Mini Edge. I've ordered several of the Cobri offset gearbox mounts from eflightline.com and have been very satisfied. This time I ordered the Cobri rotating case mount for the the 2808. I chose this one because it is slotted to allow the motor to be positioned vertically to match the cowl; however I just measured the difference in the two stick mounts and it looks like the rotating case mount will be off about 1/2 inch.

Thats the same mount I used as stated in one of the above posts.
There was a guy selling aluminum mounts on RCG awhile back that did not change the thrust line and worked with the Axi motors. Problem was that he wanted $25.00 a piece for them. A little steep in price for a stick mount IMO.

I just made a plate out of thin ply that allows me to mount an outrunner directly to a stock GWS gearbox mount. Works pretty darn good too if I do say so myself.:D

Rugar is right. I just got the plane, 2808 and Cobri mount and tried to fit the cowl. It won't work. It could be made to work with a little hacking if you have a radial mount for the Axi (which I don't have). Looks like the radial mount is required to use the Eflite too. The Eflite is a cleaner solution. If anyone has used this combination, please post a picture.
Now I have to order an Axi mount and the Eflite mount. It usually takes me about 6 weeks to get all the things I need for a new plane. I thought that I was ready to start working on this one, but now I've got some more wait time.

These guys have an offset stick mount specifically for the AXI 2808

Tech support and our own testing prove the e-flite new mount eflm1915 will fit perfectly. It's not expensive either. Aluminum will be a lot heavier than this mount too. Just a thought. you can see the mount at this link http://willstech.com/products/product_info.php?products_id=653&osCsid=4a1f3b3a97ae1cce4db18c346019700f

Any close up photos? Sounds like a very pratical solution.

No, digi died. :(
Pretty simple though. Take a piece of ply (about 2" x 1.5") and drill a hole big enough to fit over the bushing flange on the GWS mount. Center the outrunner mount over the hole in the ply and trace then put the ply on the GWS mount and trace that too. I put the legs of the outrunner mount at 12, 3, 6 and 9 o-clock.
Cut out the ply and attach it to the GWS mount using the 4 small holes that face the front with some small screws, attach the ourunner to the ply and you're all set. :)
Oh yea, I did have to drill out the shaft hole in the GWS mount so the shaft of my outrunner would fit.
I found one that will work from top creations, that will keep the same center and thrust line I talked to them this afternoon, and it is the axi 2200/ hacker mount. I think that is the way I' m going to do it
