no im in the uk - though im in suffolk in the fens - we have a club but generally dont fly combat-
great fun can be had though
go to the www.bmfa.org (http://www.bmfa.org) website to search for a club in your area-
i dont think there are many other english folks on this site-
i go to the fenlandmodelclub - search for one close to you on that website
and then contact them you can probably join- and the bmfa offers insurance which you really should get its only about £15 a year but its a must covering 3 million liability incase of an accident
if your a beginner id recommend finding a club

Hi,
I am in the same situation. Decided to get into RC planes last summer and now totally hooked flying my PZ FW-190. Just don't know anybody else who is into the whole RC plane thing.

What are the risks of RC combat with Parkzone planes. Do you have to expect to lose the odd plane to mid air collisions?

I have never flown with another plane in the sky at the same time, I am guessing its probably less risky than it seems flying at different altitudes etc.

HI there
i have been flying in the uk for 4 years
it is addictive as i have spent allot of money and time
again there are 100's of clubs in the uk

if you go to this website

BMFA.org
and find a club there are lists of clubs in there areas you live in
this will most likely be a field / playing field secluded area specifically used for flying
do not think your planes are toys
they are fully radio controlled though relatively simple to fly
most clubs in your areas will accept electric flying and glow pwowered flying with most people of similar or much larger planes
many people have this flying interest
when you find a club go check it out take a look
most good days depending on weather will be wednesday afternoon/mornings friday saturday sunday
you may find PEtrol plane flyers 3d flyers displaying large aerobatic flight scale modelling petrol helicopters-
electric planes like you may find are great but depend on the weather conditions for flight - with petrol planes if you get into them no doubt
can handle more wind are some will be fine in the rain / snow not that that is advisable

Mid air collisions are going to happen - as the sky is so large it is quite easy to avoid these things but sometimes they happen -
at my club i have seen two with larger glow aeroplane models
but the great thing is - if you agree to fly together theres no fuss if you loose your models / crash them
people are kind about it and just pick up theyre scrap and get out another model
electric planes generally will probably fix easier - and are smaller so dont expect it fly it well and keep a sense of others around you
our flying patch is generally qiuite small but i have flown with 6 other petrol planes in the sky
once i had a dog race with a friend pilot in petrol planes flying in close formation to beat each other - but you needexperience to know you can avoid a crash and control the planes with the slightest of control inputs for great safe flying - once i can about a foot away from him

i have also seen a brand new extra 300s at our patch built from a kit someone had brought to the field he let a more experienced pilot help in setting it up and fly it - but on take off the model dived and crashed ruined again the planes fault no fuss over it - no '' you owe me £300''

so its not all that risky to fly with others - though at a club youneed to learn your sayings at the right time - you pilot in a group on the flightline so you can communicate -
the most thing to watch out and check for is Transmitter-plane frequencies
all planes work on a frequency that the control from your hand controller to the plane works through
at the clubs there is a peg board displaying the numbers of different frequencies - you must make sure no one is on your frequency and you do not switch on or use anyone elses
as the frequency is changeable with interchangeable crystals (the crystals make the frequency) then there is more risk of being shot down by someone turning on there transmitter to setup for flight which is accidentally on the same as you than there is to mid air crash

- once i went to a neighbour club and back turnt and two glow powered aeroplanes mid air collided = no fuss Smack and to the ground
one planes prop flew into the seconds behind and wing

be careful find a club any more questions post
thanks

check it out find a club let me know where you get

I will definitely look into it, Thanks for your advice.

I do really enjoy flying on my own first thing in the morning having a whole field to myself and nothing to worry about, but it would be cool to see some different planes fly and meet other people that understand the obseesion.

So many people don't 'get' how fun it is flying these planes!
