View Full Version : Receiver batts + ESC question

I want to fly with the receiver powered by its own 4-5 cell pack, but still use esc for motor speed. I feel safer rather than hope the BEC in the ESC doesn't overload. Esp with 3S.

Will I do any harm by cutting the pos wire in the esc (throttle) connection so that only the pulse info gets to the esc, but no pos volts gets to the receiver from the esc?

I think I did it that way to power retracts from their own pack rather than the flight pack, but I don't know if there are other implications by doing the esc this way.

Thanks.

That method of disabling the BEC is 100% effective, and works perfectly! The BEC circuit doesn't even know what hit it :)

Rather than cut the wire, simply pull the pin out of the connector and tape it back so it can't contact anything metal. That way, you can easily reinstall the pin and reactivate the BEC for future projects.
