Hi - I am new to the whole radio control scene - and against all advice I went for 1) a helicopter . and 2) a Walkera 36 :-)
Anyway - my questions are as follows (and would really appreciate any advice / personal experience)

1) my heli came with nasty little 650 nimh battery and it hardly has the power to get off the ground - and if it does hover at about 1 foot - its only for 2 mins before the battery runs out.
Will a nice big lipo 2200 or 1800 battery sort this out?
2) I have seen them advertised - but they come with a 2 pin type charger - are they worth going for ? what make should I go for? and if i do use the 2 pin charger, will a plug converter work on in the UK?
3) Will a brushless motor make a great deal of difference - ie: longer flight time? or more power?
4) overall - does anyone have any experience with buying this sort of thing via ebay and from the hongkong/chinese sellers?

Thats about it for now -- I am having some good fun with my heli - so once i have bought myself some more flight time I will be asking about the best way to set it all up :-)

Thanks in advance for any advice / help,
Silky

Lipos and even a brushless motor would be the Best for you, But I am not sure on what size or anything. But yes lipo even would help you out I dont think you need any that size, something smaller maybe around a 750 mah or so 2 or 3 cell.
Someone should read this and be able to help you more then me ,Sorry I am not more help.welcome to the Site.

As far as a charger goes, get a 12v DC field charger and power it off a 220v AC to 12v DC power supply that you should be able to get locally.

Silky,

The best advice I can offer is to put your location in your personal info. You'll be surprised at how many locals will be willing to help you. It's the first thing I look for when someone is looking for help.

The Walkera 36 is a larger (Micro) Heli... it's the same size as a T-Rex or Shogun/Zoom 400 (~20ounces). 2100mah sided Lipos are about the standard. You want a pack that can handle the larger Amps.

I'd get a nice 'SAFE' charger like the ThunderPower TP-425 and a ProLite 2100Mah 3s battery pack.

Silky, spend as little as possible on the walkera. The heli is not worth a hugh amount of effort. While it is in one piece enjoy it. If it requires $$$ to maintain or repair, cut your losses and get somethin a bit better.

Yeah - I have started to realise that the Walkera 36 is not all that I will ever need -- to be honest I only bought it as a 'tester' to see if I like the hobby and also to crash a lot while I practice.
Hence the cheap price.
My big problem now is that the thing hardly has the power to get off the ground - and I am therefore not really getting much practice.
All the forums say that a good battery and maybe a brushless motor will make it a perfect 'cheap' heli.

Just wanted to know if nayone on here had experience of this machine / the sort of battery I will need - etc etc.

Thanks for all your help anyway ... much appreciated.
oh! and even tho I have yet to take off properly (ie: above chest height) .. I think I am hooked :-)

Silky the stock motor should get you going, if the battery is indeed the problem, the flightpower 20c lipo's will get you up. the 1800mah 3s pack is the one to use and an appropriate charger.

Thanks for your help guys - I have taken most of it on board and it is appreciated :-)
Just ordered (from Ebay) a brushless motor and a 2200 lipo (10c).
Will let you know wht the machine is like once I get it all installed.

Cheers,
Silky
