this is my latest build for e-combat, is it legal being as it will have 2 js250 motors?

it is my version of a P-82,wingspan is 36" LOA 22 1/2", present wt. is three oz. without motors or electronics, I think it will go about 13oz when RTF. motors will initially be js250's,if I like it's flight characteristics I will upgrade to a brushless set-up.It has a way to go before maiden,I normally don't paint my foamies, but this one might be the exception to the rule.

well its looks cool. "Legal" depends on who you fly with! I bet it would be very fast. For our combat rules, ya kinda. For the Georgia rules, yes. But this is supposed to be fun. If you want to build a plane like that and fly combat I would fly against you. My slower plane will have a sharper turning radius and other advantages.

So I guess the answer is maybe!

Texas is the E-combat Capitol of the world. Here is a sample of what we fly around here. This is my FW-190, I also fly a ME-109. Both are the original TopGun designs.

We love the smell of lipos in the mornings!

Irone, how well do they hold up, what are the specs? I'm experimenting with GWS at the moment, your look like less of a hasle.

Specs:

Weight: 8-10 oz flying weight (most around 8)
Wingspan: 28"
Motor: GWS 350 BS/BB, GWS 350 CS/BB, TowerPro21, 12,
Servos: 2, elvator and aileron They hold up great! The planes can easily be repaired at the field even after midairs! These flat wings are very simple to build, but fly great! They can handle alot more wind then other airplanes! We have flown combat in winds around 20 mph, right off a lake!

Joe........as Mark has pointed out they weigh 8 to 9 ounces. There is not very much mass there to do damage. I have had at least 6 mid-airs with my favorite plane (ME-109) and I flew it again this afternoon.

In the video Mark posted above:
The wind was blowing 15mph right off of the lake. We are all flying POPGUNS which are 300 class stock brushed motors on 7.4V lipos 2s packs. With a brushless TopGun setup they really rock on just a 2s lipo pack.

These planes are great park flyers, sport flyers, backyard flyers and of coarse E-Combat which is too much fun............

Joe they are unpainted, so you can use your imagination with Walmart Paint! I prefer the deset camo, walnut and tan! The blue foam makes a good color for a mustang!

I looked at those camo paints, they dont seem foam friendly to me with open cell foam.

Joe.......everyone I know is using $0.96 per can Walmart spray enamel. The instruction CD shows you how to paint the different patterns. A complete paint job takes about 5 minutes per plane...............trust me it works.:)

PS.........Don't try this on a GWS or other foam planes. You will be sorry!:mad:

Just what I wanted to know on the paint, what kind of foam are you using?

Dow Fan Fold Foam..........You may also use 6mm Depron to build from. You may also use acrylic paints if you wish. Water based Acrylic works fine on any and all foam. The fan fold has an skin on it that allows one to paint LITELY with regular spray enamel.

my twinstang now has only 1 fuselage,powered by bp21 brushless w/2200mah 2cell lipo.swinging7/4wooden prop, loa26" wingspan 35 1/2". I had to reduce size of elevator as it was just too touchy.

I assume you mean can they fly 3D mauevers. The answer is no. These planes were designed for speed and quickness, with easy building techniques. There is no rudder so hovering is very hard. You can always modify the plane, but you add weight. Also when your adrenaline is pumping as your Me-109 chases down a P-51, you really don't want 3" of aileron travel!!! This sport is fast paced!! The planes makes good fun flyers too, easy to fly and stable in high winds, but not good 3D planes.

We did fly combat against one of the guys from 3D Foamy, and it was very different. He flew the mini-sukoi I believe, and would hover just off the ground, waiting for us to fly by. Then he would shoot up! He was the target of the day, just hovering there:). The difference is that 3D planes fly better on big prop, low pitch, and that is not the best speed prop.

The best way to find out is try it!

I remember the guy with the mini-sukoi........... That was one awsome kill. He said that my streamer actually slapped his face as I came around and cut his streamer 2inches below his rudder while he was hovering about 3 feet off the ground.:D

Like golf you tend to remember your good shots even if you suck the rest of the time.

I am still learning, I was shot down twice today by newbees.

What a weekend........ DEAF (Dallas Electric Area Flyers) I think I got that right. Put on a great affair and this year included E-Combat at their huge yearly meet.

Can you say nine planes up at a time? What a crowded sky, What an awsome sight, What a great time we all had.

It was a real pleasure for me to meet and fly with our new found friends in Dallas. Nice people!:)

This was a E-Combat demo held at a local E-Flight fly-in. There were an assortment of planes there. Most were TopGuns. One was built like Lee Little's RCCA planes built by JB (Aeronut) it flew very well. He got one chop in on me for the day when I went to sleep at the wheel. JB and I flew mostly 350 brushed motors that were tweaked a bit. One plane Doug's (Rockin Roller) was a rudder and elevator Eindecker with rolled under-cambered wings, a surprisingly good flyer. There was also a sport 3d plane which finally died in the last round of the day after the riggers of a mid-air and two days of combat.

The good news is that 2Dog ended up selling 14 Topgun Kits to the crowd that was there. This means 14 new pilots for next time. I can't even wrap my mind around flying into a crowd of 14 or more planes in a sorte. It won't be long till we have more planes up than the Germans had in WWII.

The planes have a 20 foot red or blue ribbon behind them, with the last foot yellow ribbon. If you are flying in the heat and someone cuts your ribbon, but there is still some yellow left you can continue to fly. If your ribbon is cut beyond the yellow, you have to land.

I was having sooo much fun with 9 pilots flying that everytime my ribbon got cut, no matter if only 1 inch was left, I would yell out
"I still see yellow!"

Very addicting! It was neat to do something were everyone was involved. If a person at DEAF was not flying in the heat they were watching. I do believe it is the fastest growing sport in RC. I got a call from Viagra to be my sponsor! J/k
