I wanted to let everyone know that a new club has been formed in the Phoenix, AZ area that is for electric flight only. The name of the club is The Knight Flyers Electric RC Club (AMA Charter #4557) and we are currently in negotiations with three communities in the area to get property for our flying site. All three communities are very interested in having our field due to the number of "Park flyers" in the area looking for a place to fly. They see the need for structured instruction and a safe flying site that all may enjoy and are willing to provide it.

The Knights will be working with schools, scouts, adult education and any others that are interested in rc flight. The interest in the Knights club is very high and the number of people wanting to be involved is amazing.

If anyone is in the Phoenix area and woud like more info, we can be reached at: knight-flyers@cox.net

Very cool Jake! I wish your club the best. We changed over to exclusively electric at the first of this year. It was either that or loose the field. It is a sign of the times with urbanization and noise control.

That is great. We are looking to expand the morning and evening hours by having our park bless epowered aircraft. Like you Mike noise control outside of midday hours is an issue at our field :(

We're lucky enough to have been able to put together an all-electric club here in Burnaby, BC under the good aspices and direction of the Parks Board. Working with the authorities is not always a bad deal and if you go in prepared you may just find them more receptive to a good presentation. Also it is well advised that you go in showing them you are a responsible group, have AMA/MAAC club insurance etc. That will go a long way towards convincing them you are actually prepared to help the situation rather than creating one.

Since 2000 we now have 311 members registered and about 175 who are active in our club.

Good luck,
