Ok, here's my heli fleet.

My Blade CP is pretty stock, except for heat sinks and lots of stickers :)

The other heli is the same BCP (the guts, anyways) inside a Darth Dauphin body with EDF tail unit.

It's too heavy for the stock pack, so I have to wait until I can get a Lipo for it.

oh beemer...as they say here, that's bloody beaut mate!

ive never had the blade....should i get one?

im worried about the tail issues.

Tim.

It's the U.S. Coast Guard paint scheme (well, it will be when I'm done). I've since added the band-aid stripe around it's back, but I'm still working on the insignia. At the moment it doesn't have landing gear. I just love how it looks with the "wheels up". I'm not sure if I'll do retracts or fixed gear. Once I have a Lipo and I tweak out the flight performance and then do the gear.

As for the Blade, well, it's been worth the money I spent on it. I put the heat sinks on right from the start. I got about 30-40 flights out of it before the tail motor went. The main motor went at about 50+ flights due to the pinion-side (front?) bearing wearing out. The motor still runs strong, but it wouldn't mesh properly anymore. I think the main gear was a bit out of round and was causing undue pressure on the motor bearing.

The biggest problem with the Blades tail is tail strikes. The little stick below the tail doesn't do much to prevent tail rotor strikes. As you can see by my pic I added a little piece of fuel tubing over it to lengthen it. I haven't had a tail rotor strike since (unless you count going in sideways from 30 feet up!).

The DD tail change helps that problem a lot - the stock tail prop is 5.8" dia, the DD prop is 4.5".

Try cutting 1/4" off the tips of the tail rotor blade. Helps clearance w/out hurting performance. Then glue something to the "stick" to lengthen it 1/4". Not a perfect solution but it helps. Happy flying, Tom

Actually I was trimming the blades...a little down the driveway...a little when it clipped the sidewalk...ALOT off the drywall in the dinning room (eek!)...
