If anyone is going to this and would like to cover it, I have added a forum in the special events specifically for this event.

I am contemplating going just to cover the event. Seems a shame not to go since it is only 3 hours from me!

Will your jet be ready in time Joe?

I wish I could go Mike. The Missus has said no more Hodges trips until it has cooled back off some. Which works out for the September Electric V2 event.

But, maybe I could sneak up alone.......

There are five places that will always hold a spiritual magnet to my soul.

1. General Sherman Oak, Sequioa National Forest, CA Sunrise.
2. Joshua Tree National Park, CA Sunset
3. Lake Meade, NV on a jet-ski between the canyons Sunset
4. A lean-to I built atop a mountain in Greenwood Lake, NY at age 19 Daybreak
5. Hodges Field in Americus, GA Nightfall

If you have not been...you must go...even if only once...to see just how mystical a field can become.

You must have taken that the first night :) Lots of empty space there yet. On Sat. there were tents all the way up to Hodges Cub :)

One of my favorite moments was this year at SEFF (Hodge's Field). The crowded chaos that is SEFF during the day was drastically contrasted by my experience each of the mornings I was there. The silence after all the busy noise of the day before was all the more rewarding. As I walked across the dew covered grass, I was met by the image of a lone pilot, flying his translucent plane in the growing morning light.

I think it was at this time, I fell in love with this place. The people, the planes, all of it was exciting and awesome, but those two quiet mornings are the moments that come to mind when I think of Hodge's Field.

Thats what Im talkin' 'bout.

There is something about this show...its an X-factor. I wasn't 'supposed to go' this year....but I worked it as I was tired of missing it every year.

Now that I got a taste of how it's done down south....its an annual.

Jets will be roaring across those gorgeous blades of grass that makes up the field at Hodge's tomorrow.

I will be sitting in a crowded movie theater, watching Harry Potter with the gf, and my younger brother (he's got Downs Syndrome, so I forgive him, the gf doesn't have this excuse.) instead of watering the lawn with my drool.

So, I ask this one favor of you guys. Pics and vids please. Make me feel like I was there, or at least the next best thing.

I was there today from 0900-1300. It was a small event, now where near as large as SEFF. The turn out was a lot less than I expected. However, there was a huge turn out by the gnats. So, huge I thought it was a gnat rally. Even so, it was still fun. I got so hang out with people that love flying, buy some supplies and got away from the house for a few hours.
If I had known that Strykers qualify as a jets I would have brought it. Oh well, next time.
If anyone knows, or if you are, the guy from FlightPower, find out where he is going to post all of his pics.

Disappointing turnout::o Can't imagine that with the weather etc.

FlyingMonkey

How was the weather? I had been told that reports called for rain, but I have yet to hear mention of such.

(Lucky bastid for moving there. Think you can get me a job where you work?)
