You Lucky rascal :) Be careful and have fun, and you will find out that flying RC airplanes is harder than flying a real airplane, just dont do any split Ssss with that 172 :) Take care, Chellie

Congrats Kid youll have a great time. The experience you have flying RC will really help you.
I have many many many hours teaching students in the 172. Very nice airplane to learn in.

Just out of curiosity, what are they charging these days? Back in 78-82 when I was USAF we were offered ground school at $750.00 and I think a Cessna was around $22.00/hr wet. I wish I could have done it but it just wasn't possible. -Rod-

The local flight school here has Cessna 172/Piper Cherokees at 80 an hour wet..........plus 22 an hour for the flight instructor.
Its geting pretty expensive with the gas prices still climbing.
The local flying club has 172's at 60 an hour wet. Pretty good deal.

Humm im not sure what ground school costs. When I give ground school I just charge 15 an hour. There are places like American Flyers around the country that will gurantee you pass your private "written" exam, it costs around $1500 and is a three day course. Its a rip off.
I just have my students read everything they can and then they tell me what they want explained to them. Actually all the questions are published for the written exams. There is a poll of 1,000 questions and only 60 are asked on the exam.
Its not uncommon for people to just memorize the questions.

Yeah including me.. thats how I passed all of my writtens. (private, insturment, commercial, flight instructor and certified flight instructor)
haha but dont worry there is an "Oral" exam during your flight portion of your test. The examiner will ask you all kinds of stuff. You can't memorize that part of it. :) Got to learn your stuff there.
