A couple of weeks ago I started looking for silk.
I haven't done a nice silk and dope finish in a long time.

I was shocked to see my local hobby shop wanted $20 a yard for silk.

I was told by a friend about this place.
Thai silk. http://www.thaisilks.com/index.php?cPath=1_2

I got the 021F-000 white silk.
Some red scarfs as well, $3.40 each. 1 yd ea.

Prices as low as $2.50 a yard.
Price varies, it's currently 2.95 a yard.
I ordered some last Friday, the 11.
My silk arrived today. Wednesday. the 16.

Fast service and nice quality.

If you're thinking about silk you might want to consider this place.

If this is good light weight silk the price is very
good. Most silk on internet usually runs about
$10 per yard. Back in the 30s when Jap silk was
in its heyday it was about 50c a yard which was
what created the need for bamboo paper, rice
paper and later silkspan. Good luck using it. Nothing
is better than good silk. Thanks for the heads up,
Cecil

They grade their silk in "mm" units. The lower the number the lower the weight.

The $2.50 a yard was 5mm. It is very light and tightly woven.

I believe it's as good as any silk I've ever used.

Thai Silks was mentioned on RCU last year and I, too, ordered the 021F (5mm Habotai Natural White @ $2.50/yd.) I was very impressed by both their product and service (on my doorstep in three days for just $4.05 in freight!)

Their catalog is free by calling 1-800-722-SILK (1-800-221-SILK in Calif.) and it is full of MANY different varities of silk and other fine fabrics. (Sorry, no Silkspan.) If your wife sews, she'll like the variety and prices too.

Two thumbs up!
