Hey now,
So since I got the Mini Edge I think of my Mini Funtana as expendable:eek:
And since I don't have many choices for landing strips near the house I was thinking that I could throw some floats on her and fly from a local lake or even creek, 'though prolly not the bay what with the salt water and all.
I'm nicely over powered so I doubt that the extra drag would be too much of a problem, but I'm clueless on how big to make them, where to put the "step", if I'd need a water rudder, how light I can make them, and even just how to mount the things.
I must be getting bored again, cause I'm going back to the newbie thing...

Hey RobII,

So, are you saying the mini edge is a great flyer? I hope so, I have got one on the work bench, just about finished. Really just waiting on the funds to buy the motor and battery.

I was going to get out of the electric's, in fact, sold all my stuff..... now having to rebuy everything. :-0 The mini edge made me do it !
I saw one in the box and had to have it.

Anyhow, can't wait to fly her.

Hey now,
(sigh) Yeah I like the Mini Edge. It flys very well. I've got an Aon 2419-4900 on the stock kit gear box with a 3s 2100Thunder Power pack and APC 12-6 slofly prop. It does the 3d stuff much better than the MF, just be sure to check for wing warps on the Edge seems they all have some warp. On the upside, it only took a coupla minutes to straighten them out with the heat gun. The model feels like the Funtana that's been fixed, can't ask for much more than that.
That's why I'm willing to risk the MF on water, if I can find out how to set it up...

Electrics are the only way to go. Nice and quiet. With Lipo batteries you now can get decent flight times with high powered outrunner motors. I am having a ball with a Mini Funtana. Just turned 72 and turning into a kid again. Now I wish there was a Santa Claus to bring me some new toys.

Just a reminder. electrics are fragile and you can break them very easily. Take your time learning to fly the Mini Edge. Landing on a rough field can spell disaster if you have small wheels. I have 2 1/4 inch wheels on the Funtana and the plane takes off a grass field in about 10 to 20 fieet if nececessary.

Good Luck,

Pete
