I'm flying a Troy Built 3D Monte (flat plate wing and profile fuselage) using a Polk's Seeker 6 RX, and have the ability to hook up my two aileron servos as follows: Ch.1 right aileron, CH.6 left aileron. This gives me flaps and airbrakes. My question is with this setup for airbrakes when my both ailerons go up, should my elevator go down? The flaperons improve the tightness of the loops inside and outside, and I'm curious as to whether anybody here has tried the airbrakes for doing what they call an "elevator"? The Polk Seeker has worked flawlessly so far. This is the RX that does not use a crystal.

Joe,
What you are referring to are called spoilerons. The ailerons move in the same direction as the elevator. I have a couple of planes that I use 5% spoilerons on to stop wing rock in Harriers. Other than that, on Elevators, just making sure the CG is dead neutral or aft usually does it.

Hey now,
I've got spoilerons on several of my models along with "snap flaps" where the ailerons move opposite the elevator (at about half the rate) to give nice square corners etc. The spoilerons deflect about thirty degrees and the elevator deflects as little as 5*. On my Mini Flash it drops right into harrier at that point, almost an elevator. I can land them all in a three foot circle with the spoilerons, kinda nifty really... The rest of my aerobats don't need more than the snap flaps to elevator down, don't know why the Mini Flash won't.
Give 'em a try, what could it hurt?
