I've noticed some members always click the "QUOTE" button to reply to a post. This needlessly repeats the previous post and takes up a lot of extra space in a thread. Sometimes the reply doesn't have anything to do with the quote. Here is an example...

If you were to put a button that said "Reply" next to the "Quote" button maybe some users would learn that they don't need to quote every post that they reply to.

WHY? The REPLY button is on the left lower corner already. We know how to use it, if we so choose!

Perhaps if you'd have read the posts previous to my reply on that thread, rather than having jumped the gun, you would have noticed that my reply was indeed related to the thread. Foamy Bipes is what was being discussed there.

Whether a poster wishes to "quote" or not it is entirely up to that person. Sometimes we happen to quote the wrong post. It happened to me this afternoon twice. I wasn't paying attention while I was typing. I'd bet I've done that countless times in the past and so far no one has called me to task. I am not perfect, I am human.

I'd rather quote when I am replying. At times it's hard to figure out who some subscribers are replying to without having the quote included in the reply, so I use it when I so choose to avoid others from going through the same thing. The button is there to be used, and I will use it whenever I see fit. It is not up to you to tell anyone what to do, when to do it or how to go about it, here or anywhere else.

If you think it is a waste of your time to read quotes on the posts, then don't read them, and or add the particular "offending" user to your IGNORE LIST. It is that simple!

Not all of us are as perfect or as smart as you might consider yourself to be, OK? Furthermore, I don't believe you are in a position to correct or teach anyone internet etiquette as you are interpreting it, especially here.

Life is too short to try and aggravate our fellow men on these forums. This is a nice place to spend time at, and hopefully it will remain that way. When someone makes a mistake or does something HARMFUL here, and does so on purpose, the Moderator(s) and or Administrator will know how to correct it.

the button to the right of the quote button will take you right to the quick reply box or you can click the post reply button at the bottom of the thread or top of the thread
