Stu's and Steves are great planes and both are proven fliers. I have 2 of Steves micro's, one for pusher and one for micro fan. The Fan version is down for Vasa55 inplant. Back when we first did the Micro we only had Kan cells, but now with lipo they rock.

There's a nice plan for a built-up model of the F-104 designed by Ralf Dvorak for Sp400 motors at the bottom of this page:

Built one from that plan (balsa-ply). A lot of cutting and planking job. Flown once last year with Vasa65 fan ,Mega16/15/2 ,2-cell lithium. A little underpowered with this setup so I have now modified it with a Wemotec Mini-fan and 3-cell Kokam 3200. Flight behavior was promising ,so it should get moving more like a jet with my new upgrade..??

Hi Tronb
Your 104 is an absolute beauty - what a lovely machine to feature in your first post on this forum! Thanks for posting :)
Hope you have eagle eyes - you'll be punching about 450W into it when you fire up the 16/15/2 + MF480 on that 3s Kokam :D

I'm trying to get together with Ken Williams (of K&A Models) to have him shoot some video of the Zipper and my K&A F-84. I'll be sure to share when/if it becomes a reality.

Unfortunately Steve can't work with the resins anymore so he won't be making anymore kits/fuse's/planes. EAM has the rights to Steve's 104, might want to contact them to see if and when they'll be available.

Yes it's extremely unfortunate about his hitting the epoxy tolerance limit.
His original one was made of foam and silkspanned.
It only needed LiPo technology (that wasn't around yet!)to really fly well.
Were the EAM kitted ones glass?

I missed the original release of Steve's F-104 and was waiting for EAM to release it, but this will not apparently happen, at least for the time being.
I was fortunate to be offered one of the original "Steve" kits so I jumped on it. I haven't finished it yet, but hope to soon. I've been undecided as to whether or not I want to do the elevator/stab combo as in the original configuration or go to a flying stab like the Stumax model...decisions, decisions... :)
If anyone is interested here's where I picked up the thread when I got mine.

You are talking about the "Stumax" model right?
According to Stu he only sold about 12 of the kits worldwide so they are a bit scarce to say the least. Mine, Turbonut's, Gordito's and one in Michigan/Wisconsin/Minnesota somewhere are the only ones that I know about here in the States.
My last communication with Stu, to get the parts to fix mine, led me to believe that he is too busy trying to make a living to be able to produce kits for the forseeable future.
Just a guess, but maybe if there were 3 or 4 guys that were willing to pop for a cash deposit, that he might make a run of 104's as opposed to a one off kind of deal? Australian summer is still 6 months away though and he apparently doesn't like to do glasswork except in the warmer months............
Count me in for another if there is any chance of a "mass order" attempt.

Stripped and cleaned up the usable bits off the wrecked fuselage, got the motor/tail attach bulkhead installed, canopy hatch fitted.
Wing mount next, then ducts and intake lips, etc., etc...........

I have got in here and saw your post with a photo of a ladie who hold a great looking F-104 in her arms. Great looking woman, but I was interested about this F-104 that she is holding. Who as build that one and as the threat is a old one, I was wondering if they are still around to purchase and who are making them?. By the way, is this jet yours?, and where would I have threat about it, or anyother threat about F-104 of about the same size.
Ps: Is it a EDF?, only interested in EDF and not pusher one.
Thanks Buddy !!!

Hiya "Cpt.T",
I've pretty much left WFlyer these days but just stopped in to see if anything of interest was going on.
Yea, my wife is a "keeper".
The 104 is from Stumax http://www.stumaxaircraft.com/
EDF for 69mm fan like a 480MiniFan or DS30. Needs 700watts or so for good performance.
Stu Maxwell from Australia does a limited run of kits now & then.
Search "F-104" on RCG's for more threads.........mine and maybe 2 others are the only ones out of 20 or so kits sold worldwide to actually get built and fly.
Cheers,

Good morn "SPEED"
I agree with you sir, your ladie is a "KEEPER" ...
And thanks for your reply about my post to you. Yesturday I came with a decision to witch jets I'll fly and build. I order a F/A-18 EDF from (KMP & PARKPILOT) It is 68 lenght , 44 wing. Peoples are building that one with twins 90mm or single 120mm, I will do the 120mm version as I will get gears in. For my part it will be a scale project and I dont plan to fly it this year as I will do pretty all to be scale reel as F/A-18. I have so many ideas to how I will build it, and I am shure I'll glass it all for long flying life.
Well "SPEED" I'll be around and again thanks for your reply...
Good day to you and your "sweetheart" ladie!
