What is the name of the metal that the stator is made from? I tried looking for it, but I couldnt find it.

In a typical DC motor, there are permanent magnets on the outside and a spinning armature on the inside. The permanent magnets are stationary, so they are called the stator. The armature rotates, so it is called the rotor. The armature contains an electromagnet. When you run electricity into this electromagnet, it creates a magnetic field in the armature that attracts and repels the magnets in the stator. So the armature spins through 180 degrees. To keep it spinning, you have to change the poles of the electromagnet. This is acomplished with the use of a computer controlled speed controller (brushless ESC).

So To answer your question, the stator material is magnets preferably "rare earth" magnets as they have a stronger magnetic field.

*even though the website listed this as a "brushless dc motor" I think it's a brushed motor. See post below for more accurate info*

Just found this.. seems more along the lines of the brushless motors we use for hobbies.

Brushless motors, as the name implies, do not use brushes for commutation. Instead, they are electronically commutated. The stator consists of stacked steel laminations that are axially cut along the inner periphery. Numerous coils are interconnected to form each winding. An even number of magnetic poles are produced from each of these windings that are distributed over the stator periphery. The rotor is a permanent magnet with alternating magnetic poles built in

Yes, I was referring to the hobby ones, the outrunners. the steel laminates is what I was wondering about, like what type of steel is used. Has to be a special kind since you want the metal to easily be magnetized and demagnetize. Anyone know the name of the metal/alloy of these laminates?

This article contains a table of the alloy designations of the silicon steels used in motor stators.
