The 3rd Annual VR/CS Reunion/Fun Fly was held July 28, 2007 at the Arvada (Colorado) Associated Model Air Park.
The weather was fine, after several days of scorching heat, it cooled to the mid 80's with a bit of cloud cover and very light winds.
Formally a two-day affair, it was reduced to one day, with the Arvada Club Picnic added to the end. Lunch was provided for contestants and the "Picnic" was a barbeque dinner at the end of official flying.
Here's a link to over 100 photos from the event, provided by Lee Jay Fingersh http://imageevent.com/sipphoto/aircraft/vintageflyin2007?z=3&c=4&n=1&m=-1&w=4&x=0&p=28
As you can see, there were many more entries than last year, and a couple of noon-time demos, including flights by Franny with her Satin Doll + Goldberg Viking.
The Concours de Elegance Award went to Mike Sadler, with an "Antic Bi-Plane" covered with Silron + Dope. Mike Placed third in Class III Pattern with this beautiful model.
Second place in Class III Pattern was Chris Jacobson flying a "Kwik Fli III".
The event was won by Rob Kelly, also flying a "Kwik Fli III" Other entries were a "Falcon 56" (with ailerons), "Kaos", "Astro Hog", two "Ugly Sticks".
Class II Pattern winners were August Bruno flying a "Live Wire Champ" (3rd), Second place went to Herb Varona with another "Champ" and in the top spot was Chris Jacobson flying an "Esquire" covered with silk and dope.
The "Old Timer Electric Climb + Glide" (10 entries) winners were (First) Gregg Schuster, flying a full-size cabin "Playboy", 2nd Jerry Thompson with a pylon "Playboy" and yours truly squeaked into third with my 5/8 scale pylon "Playboy".
"Old Timer Glow Climb + Glide" winners were (3rd place) Maurice Kaiser, flying a "Hayseed", 2nd place won by Norm Roglitz with a full sized pylon "Playboy" and 1st place was Chris Jacobson with a "Dallaire Sportster".
A great fun fly, lots of fine old planes, good weather and food!
See you next year?
Ron
