View Full Version : 1941 Air Trails P-40 plans
Went through some magazines today and found this one.
I think I'll build this one, this winter.
If anyone is interested here's the article and plans.
I sized them to print on a 8.5 x 11 sheet.

What scale does it come out to after printing, I might just stick build this one, right up my alley. Thank you for taking the time out to scan and post it, especially in this manner.
Edit, it looks like 37 + inches, can't read the text in the article.
Brian, if it doesn't print well at this resolution I still have the files at a higher resolution.
If anyone needs higher resolution just PM me.
And I'll e-mail them to you.

Just a question, are there any copyright violations distributing this like that? Just curious, don't want anybody to get in trouble.
The magazine is out of business.
The article is 65 years old.
I don't believe the author is still living.
I don't see them publishing this article to make money in the future.
And I'm not making any money from this.
I think a lot of this will be lost forever if we don't get this to people to make these old planes fly again.
I think we're alright.
If I am violating any copyrights I'll immediately remove this article.

Paul, you are right. I guess I got my Phineases mixed
up. Phinkham was from Flying Aces and Fogg from
Around the World in 80 Days. Cecil

What a great offer! I would love for you to build me one!! I hope I got in in time to be near teh front of the line ...:)
Good one Andy, but it was a new paragraph.
Now if you want to build one,
I might be talked into cutting parts for two planes at the same time.

Hey Paul,
I was always a math guy!
I have to say though that a set of parts is very tempting. But I think I am going to clear my GWS backlog AND build a wood scratch-built of some sort this Winter. All I know is that the scratch built is going to be in the 10' wingspan area, and weigh in at an AUW of 3-4 pounds. I may give up a foot of wingspan so I can fly it on a 400XT and TP1320 (3S obviously!). The plan is not finalized yet in my mind ...

Hi Paul: Thanks for the files. Had some problems with the download and size. Will try a old trick with a photo enlarger and hope that I can match them with size. The wing was a problem to enlarge with this file and that may be the main problem....... Herm:D
Herm, the wing was not full sized. It did give the dimensions to make it full sized.
I can scale it up to full sized and send you the wing files that way if you wish.
Let me know.
One more thing, when you click on the pictures in these post, they don't always go to full sized.
Sometimes you have to click in the little blue box in the lower right corner of the picture.
After clicking on that box, then right click on your mouse and select "save file as" and designate a location and then left click on the save as button.
You should be able to save the picture as full sized that way.
And print the correct size.
Paul.
