Me and my boy headed out to the field this evening after dinner, figured we get in a flight or two before dark. Temps had fallen to the low 80's wind was dying down and the sun was setting soon... anyway we load up and head out, we get to the field to one of the better sights a fella can see... a closed and locked gate!!! That is good by the way... It just means no one else is there and we have the field to ourelselves!
woooohooooo!!!!
My son flies his stryker first while I'm setting up the Waco. The young man sure can fly I tell ya! He is ripping up the sky and having a blast! He lands, big 'ol grin on his face... put's another battery in and off again... At this point I could care less if I fly or not!:ws: He was having such a great time. I was not going to ruin it for him. He feels the same way apparantly since he lands and says your turn!:Q
So off I go with the Waco. Wind has become non existent, sun is setting and the Waco is almost glowing the way the light is hitting it. My son get's the camera and takes some good shots of it. I just cruise around for a while, shoot some approaches and a few touch and goes. I set her down checked voltage and I'm still god for another flight so back up I go. This time I put the screws to her a time or two, switch over to high rates for a few rolls, a bit of inverted flight and a loop or two. Ok time to land, my boy wants to fly again....
WHAT"S THAT NOISE!!!?!?!!?!??!!!!?!! OMG:< it's a full scale C-130 at tree top level!! No way!! YES WAY!!:Q My son still has the camera so here's the proof!
This is the time of year the ANG from Youngstown Ohio comes down to the region and sprays for mosquitos. They fly over the whole area at treetop level killing the little buggers...
My waco and that full scale were at the same flight level! They came up over the trees so fast I couldn't get down quick enough. First time I have flown over the pits at our field... EVER... I think I was justified this time though...;-) Anyway... I see the flight crew wave as they fly by! How cool is that!?
So I set her down... knees knocking just a bit... and let my boy fly again. He takes the Funtana up and he runs a couple batts through it...
It just doesn't get any better than this guys!
What a great day!:ws::ws::ws:
