I thought the spikes on the fuse made it look like a dragon, but SG said no. I am very intrigued to see it up close!:D

I had the plane in the back seat, on my way to run some arrands and to hit the field with it and noticed an unusual cloud formation over mount Ranier, I'm attaching it. Ironic how it resembles the plane, this is unedited folks.

I'll let you guys take one more stab at it and will reveal what it is later this evening.

It's a dragon!! :Q??

You are correct!!!

I have one more revision to do on it, ie. a longer neck so I can get the battery pack forward to set the proper COG, a nose light plane is not easy to fly, and having too small of an hstab made it even harder, I didn't sand mine to shape, just wire cut it and glued it together, knowing this is just a test platform, one of the photo's show's murphs under construction, the rest are mine. I just gave it wider H-stab and elevator last night, so is a little different then in the picture. I have some more video of it I'll be showing, longer duration flights, and one crash video I took on the day of the maiden. Murph will be showing a build log on it, and how these came to be.

I figured the monkey let you in on it, so took note as to how you worded it, knowing full well I didn't say it wasn't a dragon.

As a matter of fact, I have plans on kitting it out, I already made all of the jigs, well, have one more to make, the neck extension, I'm doing the final tests within the few days weather permitting so it's fine tuned and will be going into production immediately afterwards.

sweet!

great one more thing I gotta buy! my wife is gonna kill me!

oh, almost forgot, no the monkey never clued me in. I was able to get the video to stop on a frame where you could see the body spines, and also the scalloped wings made them look like membranes. besides, the reason I hid it was so not to ruin the fun!;)

Nice ... that's a new take on the stick style flyer!

I'm generally of the "looks like an airplane" type ... but THIS is so in the other direction I can appreciate it.

Here is another short video, I have more, just would rather be posting it of the revised version, hitting the field today without the tripod, not sure where it went, so have to rely upon my girlfriend to take the video, I hope she can manage it.

The COG was off, I was testing the new tail feather, believe me, it was more of a handful on it's maiden, I also was trying to keep it within the screen since the camera was rested on the bench. I added a new neck, placed my pack onto it's mount and launched, so I have the COG issue taken care of. Now, I'm going to build a new fuse, the current one took alot of abuse and I didn't reinforce it with anything, will be pretty easy to transfer everything over to it and I'll have something a little prettier to show off since it's no longer needing the harsh tests the first one did.

I took a shot of it prior to retiring the fuse, so it's a little rough. I'm using a pretty small pack at 11.1, 1000 mah, so not alot of weight, you could also just extend the stick and put the pack on that, just behind the motor, similar to how they do it on the Slowstick. I'm leaving the original neck in place, for those that want to keep it with a shorter one, or have heavier gear, or want to just to extend the stick.

As you can see, I pulled the landing gear off of it for now, the COG being moved forward caused it to tip forward when standing up. I also removed the front legs, was trying for more aerodynamic of an approach in order to squeeze more speed out of it. I may sweep the wings back as well to help in the latter area.

I liked it with the feet...gave it a real menacing attitude. but there are always compromises when it comes to aerodynamics, unfortunately.

nevertheless, it's a very cool bird. I am actually thinking of attempting a pterodactyl foamie. maybe... I got a few other things I need to work on as well.
