View Full Version : Top Flite p-51 prop choice

Hello warbird friends,
I am going to electrify a TF giant p-51 mustang using an Actro 60-175 for power. It would be nice to use a scale 4-blade prop. I found a prop at a company called soloprops, and ordered a 24" prop with adjustable pitch.
Do you think this prop will be right for the p-51. I am currently using the motor on a wild hare extra 330 with a 26-15 prop. Works very nice.
Both planes are of the same size and weight.
Any suggestions for another propsize or pitch or should I go with this?
very nice forum

Here’s the math:
So your 24 looks good!
Just pitch to the amps and/or flight speed you like.

Have you flown your Mustang yet? How did your power system work out? Do you like the Solo 4 blade prop? Do you have enough airspeed, or do you wish you had alittle more? What was you All Up Weight?

the soloprop arrived today, I just put it together. It looks fantastic. We are going to test it later this week so I will give you a report when test is done.
The plane is still in box´, we are starting the project now. We are 4 guys doing different things on the plane, I will keep you informed of what we are doing.....

Thanks for the update, I appreciate your feedback. I'm considering this power system for a 22# F4U Corsair, and a 3bladed prop would be fantastic. If I could figure out how, I would include a picture of my Giant TF P-51 with the Flyware T-Rex 40.
