Not sure if these will interest anyone. They are indoor micro electric R/C warbird. Free downloads can be found at : http://users.joplin.com/~wcflyer/freedir.htm

can the wings be trimmed to match the outline on the plans or will this make the area too small to allow them to fly slowly? What is the smallest area these can be flown in? DC

Hi, Deadcell
Two reasons, I have made the wing the way I did. First, why give up the extra wing area, more wing area equals less the wing loading. Thus more lift, less power, lower speed. Second, it's a lot more work to build an airfoil tapered wing. Besides, you don't even notice the light blue foam around the edges while they're in flight.
We fly them in a church recreation room, it's probably 2/3 regular basketball court size ?

Ken I dowlloaded a couple of your plans I think the planes look great but I am kind of new to building a plane from a plan I have been flying for a couple of years here in Boise ID and we have a gym that is open to us during the winter so I want to give it a try building a couple of micro flyers to have some fun with during winter I have a couple of questions though the plans do not specify what to use for the wing will depron foam work and how thick? and can these be setup with traditional micro radio gear and can they be setup with a cd rom brushless motor and speed control and a lipoly battery please let me know because I am anxious to start building the planes also what would you recommend for a lipoly battery if they can be flown with one please feel free to email me direct if desired at the address below thanks

This is a copy of one of the e-mail I sent to Rick above.

Hi, Rick
You said, you had never built anything quite like these warbirds before. I did a thread several months ago on RC Groups.com on building the P-51 Mustang. I thought this might help you with your building project.
It can be found at http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/index.php (http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/index.php) Pick this address and it will take you to the RC Group forum page. Go down to the first Blue line, it says My RCGroups, Gallery, Members, Calendar, New Posts, Search. Pick the word Search . This will open a Search Forum box. Type in FREE P-51 Mustang Micro R/C HOW TO BUILD THREAD then pick GO. This should get you to the thread list. Hope this will help you.

Hi, pezzer2003;49598
I think Bob Selman at www.BSDmicroRC.com (http://www.BSDmicroRC.com) will ship to Australia. Send him an e-mail and Janell will let you know for sure.

Ken,
Do you know if the electronics/power system from a Rookie could be used in one of these?

Hi, Brad
I doubt if the Rookie electronics could be used. First the prop is a pusher prop and as I remember the it can not be reversed to make a tractor prop out of it. Second you will need a elevator and rudder control. The Rookie only has rudder control and no elevator control.

Hi All;

Thanks for the links to the free plans. Just what I'm looking for. I'm going to try one using styrofoam if I can and use the electronics from a Wattage Micro Flyer. I dont like their gear setup. Very noisey.... Might try reducing the size a little and use a pager motor with down thrust set for level flight at mid throttle and to climb above 1/2 throttle. That leaves the actuator for turning.
Someday we'll see.

Tony

Hi, onlyemokid
No, the plane on Bob Selman's web page comes only as a flat Depron sheet with carbon strips for assembly. You decorate it with Sharpie permanate markers before assembly. It uses Plantraco 900 mHz equipment for indoor R/C.
