:) I just got a Hobby Lobby Yak finished and flying. Nice little plane so far, just need to get some gear on it before I scrape the bottom off. I have taken a couple of photos of the Carbon Fiber Peanut can gear I made for it. I used this method before on a 3d Flipper with good results. The fiberglass plates bolt through the fuse side and the gear is bonded in the slot with Hot Melt glue.

i would be very interested i the technique you use to make your can gear.
i have yet to find a plane that could stand up to my abuse or be light enough!
get back to me when you can

The Peanut can is used as a mold. It happens to be about the right size for the average foamie. I used 4 plys of Carbon Fiber to make a blank about 2 inches wide. Then I bandsaw it into sections around .50 to .75. I can get several gear blanks out of one layup. Fiberglass would work as well or better. You just need to adjust the width and number of plys to get the stiffness you want.
