A little confuse about my first flight on the NexStar. I flew on the simulation for 3 months to prepare myself for my first flight to ensure that I could fly. Before my first I perform my pre-flight checks and everything was fine. After taking off for some reason after getting airborne it went sharp left. After a few adjustments on the flaps which were out of adjustment for some reason everything was good. Thankfully, it landed safely in the grass with no damages. The second time it kept climbing accelerating and going into a circle. Finally, I was able to land again safely so I disable the AFS thinking that was the problem. My last flight I bit the dust. It went in a left bank and straight down to the ground. My questions are what went wrong with the NexStar and, is it worth fixing which I would need to purchase another fuselage. Should I look for another trainer to fly? Since I am new to this and have been reading many question in the forum so I am looking for the best advice on this matter. Any information is greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Don Sims

Firstly, welcome to the forum Will! A flight sim helps a lot but it's not actual flying. Are you sure you can't put it back together? If you tried to gain altitude too quickly you could have gotten yourself into a stall on that last flight.
There are a lot of great trainer planes out there. Take your time, get frustrated at yourself, but work through it. Photos help us diagnose problems too.

Will,
I have taught a couple of friends of mine how to fly on a nexstar and it is an excellent trainer plane, one of the best ! However, note that in a simulator you are flying a perfect model, whereas in reality your plane is not perfect, it needs trimming, maybe adjustment of CG location .... all of these can only be done by an experienced pilot.
So, get urself a new ARF Nexstar for $100, build it carefully, do not install the trailing edge plastic flaps and the 2 leading edge plastic addons on the wing, they slow down the plane but make its handling very bad. I wouldnt use the AFS at all, find an experienced guy who will test fly it for you, trim it out, fix the cg location ...etc, after that fly under his supervision or better if you can arrange to fly with a trainer cable. I notice you still dont even know the right terms related to aircraft, you called the ailerons, flaps. You definitely have to join a club or at least find somebody experienced to help.
All by yourself you may learn to fly the hard way, breaking a lot of planes ... but you will never advance to fly precisely, do nice aerobatics ...

Akaram,
You are so right about needing help. I join AMA today and was I was able to locate a club not far from me. I have the application and will be sending it off this weekend. I'm just so fascinated about this hoppy I am reading and not getting with experience people that really can help me enjoy the hobby. So I am going to repair my Nexstar and go the the club for help.
Thanks all for the info.
