I need some help. How do I go about setting up separates on my Blade??The 4-n-1 went up in smoke  so I am starting from "scratch".
Heres what I have so far:
30 amp gws esc(main rotor)
10 amp gws esc(tail motor)
Gy 401
Futaba 6xhs radio
Gws 4ch reciever
Can I use the 4ch receiver or will I need to get a 6ch? I am unsure of the settings on my radio, I was told that I needed to use the Revo mix but according to the manual when idle up is engaged the Revo is dis-engaged.
Is this gonna be a problem or will it work OK.
Thanks for your help

Hi Ken,
I use this: http://www.dreamhobbies.com/cart/product.php?productid=1576&cat=365&page=2
Rx in my Micro/Mini heli's. I have had great luck with it and it is only $22.00 It is Futaba shift as well. It will work great with your 6EXH radio
and you will have in-flight gyro gain control.
Hope this helps :)

Jay,
Is that Rx a 4-in1? Can you use it as a stock Blade CP replacement?
I've been wary lately about the life of my 4-in-1 and if I had to buy another one, I at least wanted something better.

Motions,
No, it is a 6 channel micro RX for the futaba radio he listed. You would need everything nstaller has listed basically, except you would need a 6 channel RX using a JR shift (instead of Futaba) You could also upgrade the esc's and motors to brushless at the same time. It might save you doing it later as your piloting skills progress and you want more power. You can get some really good deals on brushless motors and esc's for that size Heli at http://centuryheli.com If you need a hand finding the right one for you, just let me know and I will look a few up for you :)
Take care,
Jay

Thanks for the clear up Jay. I'm still at the out-of-the-box OEM stage. Haven't ventured into the seperates stage yet.
I appreciate the offer to help. I think if I go the seperates route, I will probably start with a new bird. Maybe a trex 450. I'll keep the Blade until I can fly with my eyes shut.

That is a great idea Motions. The T-rex is a great little Heli. Crash parts and upgrades are cheap. I would wait until the 4-in-one set up burns out before upgrading it. sometimes they last the life of the Helicopter, other times they don't do so well. I have only messed with one, and it still works great.
Take care,
Jay

Thanks for the link Jay.Gonna order a couple today.
I sent my 4-n-1 back last week. If it is replaced under warranty I am gonna get a T-rex in a couple of weeks and put the Blade back stock.

That is a great idea nstaller. You should be able to get a new 4-in-1 under warranty. If you buy your T-rex kit from the same web site, steve will ship it to you free. He will answer any questions you might have before buying anything. He is a good guy and knows a lot about the T-rex.
Best of luck to you!
Jay
*Edit: If you get another 4-in-1 RX you will only need one RX for the T-rex.

I am just wondering how good the Blade will fly with a big-a$$ brushless main and a brushless Feigo(sp?) tail motor with carbon mains and the 401.
Hmm............Wheres my Visa........

nstaller: It's a whole different bird with seperates, a computer radio, brushless, bell/hiller head. Pick your poison, they all seem to end up being money funnels. Happy flying, Tom

http://www.helihobby.com/html/separate_electronics.html has a good explanation of separates. You will love the way the tail locks in with the GY-401. I have a Himax 2015-4100 in mine and a feigao 12mm on the tail, and a gy-240 gyro. Makes for an agile light-weight "urban flyer" you can fly around inside and outside without much fear of damaging something.

Keith,
Thank you for the link. I agree, it is worth a little more to get a Futaba gyro I use the GY-401 on about everything.

getting ready to put my Blade back in the air but I have a quick question.
What size allen wrench fits the DD tail motor prop adaptor??

you may have to buy a GWS prop adapter spare. It comes with an allen wrench. I don't think I found one small enough in my sets.

I found that an inch size allen wrench fit better than the GWS allen wrench. .028 or .035, don't remember. Best thing you can do is drill and tap the adapter for 2-56 set screws. The GWS hardware is junk. Happy Flying, Tom

I havent got my BCP back in the air yet.My prop adaptor didnt come with a allen wrench.I think the main problem was that I needed to file a flat spot on both sides of the motor shaft so that the set screws have a good spot to bite on.
Been trying to get my bastard child Dragonfly back in the air.I believe that thing was created to make my life miserable.I can fly my BCP fine but that MDF couldnt fly if I threw it off the roof of my house.

I've never had to file a flat spot. Mine always fit solid. And for the GWS Dragonfly, the best way I know of to get it flying good is to use Like-90 blades.

No matter how tight it was it kept slipping. As far as the Dragonfly goes I am about ready to sell/trade it. I have decided its time for a Raptor or a Hawk Pro.I shouldnt have sold my last Hawk
