not sure if this is the right place to post, but here goes, had a question about lights on a slow stick- how does everyone power theirs? I have a setup from truerc that has 4 lights, and when I plugged everything in, i seem to have fried my reciever- I thought initially that it was the esc that was bad, but after testing its definately the reciever- then I got to looking at the instructions for my phoenix 25 and it says not to use it to power lights, so then what is the proper way to power this system, keeping in mind that for this light system when you change the imput (gear channel is what I used) the setup cycles through 4 different light configurations- some blink, then some solid. etc. I just toggled the gear channel on and off to accomplish this- is there another component needed,or do you use the esc anyway? any help appreciated, thanks!! jeff

Jeff, I took an old brushed 15 amp speed control and converted it to a switch. It allows me to turn the lights on but not off. I can dim and brighten them though.

thats a neat idea don- so how does that work? could you share how you wired it? I guess that powers the lights independently from your servos then making less of a load on your esc's right?
the setup i've got toggles through 4 different modes when you turn the channel on and off, so that might work for me as well thanks for any info, jeff

Jeff, I went through my links but can't find the layout of the switch. It's very simple to make and you put it on one of your radio channels by plugging it in the receiver.

Jeff the lights we have are meant to be powered by the receiver regardless of what ESC brand you have. They draw very little amperage so ESC should not be bothered. Especially high quality stuff like Castle which can deliver around 2-3A out of its BEC.

one of the reasons these lights have to be plugged in to RX is that they can be Switched on IN FLIGHT and you can switch between 5 diffrent sequences, which requires RX connection.

If you think the lights some how shorted the RX please send them back to us for replacement, but the only way I think they would do that if they were connected backwards. Please try it with another RX if you can.

Best Wishes,

Dan
