Wasn't sure if this is the right forum or not. I know the plane says 3D but it looks like more of a pattern aircraft to me.

I'm considering getting this plane but need some help with a power system set up. For some reason it's calling for (4) 4100 mAh 7.4V lipos. I don't get the 7.4V?

Hopefully some of you pattern gurus can help here.

Maybe they want you to make that into an 8s pack, OR, 2 4s packs. Seems the only logical thing I can come up with. Nice looking plane though!

Howdy Grasshopper,
The 7.4V battery would allow for the use of a larger dia./lower pitch prop for the thrust needed for 3D flying I'm guessing. Or if you wanted pattern like flying then you could do as mickey t suggest and use a smaller dia./higher pitch prop. It does resemble a pattern type plane except for the large control surfaces (for a pattern plane that is). Just my thinking.

That plane is huge... it needs a lot of power... thus, the 4 batteries. I bet it's a 6-pounder... maybe more. It's listed as 4 pounds, but I bet that's the empty weight...

The motor says 6-15 volts...2 2s lipos in series would be 14.8 volts...

Perhaps 4s2p....?....that would be a 14.8 volt 8200mah pack with the potential for 12,136 rpms......Seems reasonable for what they have in mind.... but the 8100mah pack would be capable of 121.5 amps at 15c.....hmmmm

Somehow I missed the fact it called for 4 of the 7.4V lipos. Oops :o

Thanks for the replys everyone. Yes, it looks a little heavy to me too. I'm wondering if it's not just truely a glo version they say can be converted to electric? Still a cool looking plane. All depends on the price on whether or not I get it.

I think that a 4 lb. model with 13.1 oz/sq.ft wing loading is actually very light....Should be super floaty....:)

I like super floaty. I'm not in to 3D at all so I have no interest in hanging from the prop with it. I just thought it would make a cool pattern type plane.

Tom, I do not know how to decipher the descriptions.

What's the accessories for changing the carbon fiber retract?

But it does look like a nice plane.

Who knows Paul. Remember this is the same company that made our P-51 Manics:D

As far as I can see the airfoil is not a pattern-airfoil... Although the lenght of the fuselage compared to the WS could make a good pattern-plane I am pretty sure it won`t do pattern in a good way
In addition I think it need at least 5S LiPo to perform. The suggested motor is a bit too weak.

Thanks Guys and Jazzy,

I decided against it. Couldn't get a price on it and don't really need another plane right now. Also don't want to move up to bigger packs just yet either.
