Hot Dawg by Ken Willard

Has anyone got a copy of the plan for the Ken Willard designed Hot Dawg that I could borrow/copy as I cannot find my copy of this plan.:confused: I built one in the 70's and I would like to build an electric version of it.

I couldn't find a listing of the Hot Dawg with a Google search. Is this a variation of the Top Dawg?
If so, there's a listing for a 39" glow (.049-.15) version and an electric modification (same size) from the Academy of Model Aeronautics plans service;

Sterling made a kit from 1967 thru the '70's, they show up on eBay occasionally, but the last one I saw went for over $100.00 US.
Also, FLY RC magazine had free pull-out plans for an electric ("E-Dawg") version in the April 2004 issue, there's a laser-cut balsa kit available here;

YOu also might want to consider the Top Dawg......a recent electric remake of featured as a FREE plan in Fly RC a while back...

These are the specs of the model. I found it on the RCM plans service, do you know if they are still a reliable source of plans. I have attached a picture I found of the model.



32" span, 204 sq. in., .049-.051, 2 ch., built-up sheet balsa, plywood, and Ace R/C foam wing, one sheet 22-1/2" x 31-1/2",

That is a new one to me!

I have heard that they do get plans out - eventually. So I think for a few bucks you could try them. It will likely be the only source. I know of several that ordered from them and got them, but that was 3-4 months after RCM folded.

Hello Suncoaster, Well, you found the "Hot Dawg"! I didn't think to look at RCM, and it didn't come up on Google.
I haven't ordered from RCM since they stopped publishing the magazine, but have seen threads on other Forums regarding the plan service, seems to be a problem getting through and some never got their order.

So I guess the best thing to do is eMail or call and make sure they're still doing business.

I got plans from them a while back. It seems they are still in business but not in the r/c magazine business. Like with many plans suppliers, don't expect the plans to arrive real soon. Be prepaired to wait.

Ive got Ken Willards Top Dawg plan in PDF form I dont remember where I got it, I've been collecting plans during my recovery and there are so many that I have lost track as to where they came from. Back to the plan it's a tiled plan with a construction article looks like everything you would need. let me know if you want it.

I happen to have two E-Dawgs short kits that I could be talked out of.
A couple of years ago I built a prototype E-Dawg kit for the VRCS meet in Brooksville, Fl.

It was built for another fellow. It flew well for several monthe and then the electronics went south and it was beyond rekitting.
Built a fuel one also, going to convert it, rather than build another one.

RCM is still selling plans and I have never had problems getting any. I just ordered some last month and have them now. They are a little slow, but I have never lost out on getting anything I ordered from them. They have a bunch of Ken Willard's plans listed.

Hey, that picture you posted of the two hot dawgs, the black one in the back was the one my dad built and the one in front was ken willards. My dads had a control problem one flight which did not end well for the plane, it crashed. But I remeber that because my dad did a lot of building for ken and also a lot of photogrphy work for his articles in RCM.,Hi Ron and Mike
