I have a guy wanting to sell me some stuff and said he doesn't have PayPal and to send a postal money order. He also is new to this site, and has no posts or history here. Obviously I don't feel good about this. The guy could be good as gold, but????
Does PayPal actually give me any protection? Lets say I PayPal him the funds, and two weeks later I have no stuff - will PayPal give me my money back for sure, even if this guy has disapeared?

you can report it, but no guarantees that paypal will do anything. I bought two lipos from a guy, they both arrived DOA - one with a hole in a cell(!!!) and the other with a total pack voltage of about 1.5V. Reported it to Paypal, but since I'd actually 'received the merchandise' they did nothing.
Fortunately that's the only time I've ever been burned in an online transaction, and I've done plenty of them. Paypal isn't any guarantee tho - and if you're feeling uneasy, there's probably a reason.

What bsoder said; however there are some limited protections via Paypal. It may take a long time, but about 1/2 the time you can get your dough back...

I wouldn't buy anything from a guy selling on here, that hasn't posted here.
Simple as that.
