im wanting to find (collect) sources for EDF models up to 65mm fan size.

i like the idea of a 20A or less model that can ROG off its belly (or via retracts) so am looking at anything up to 600g (19oz).

if you know of such a beast, please reply here and ill see if it is worthy of a sticky.

Tim.

ill start with the obvious...

www.alfamodel.cz (http://www.alfamodel.cz)

F86 Sabre, Mig15, Ta183...all ROG, no gear required. 60mm fan.

I guess any of Tom's parkjets would fit this bill...if they can ROG...(Tom?)

I know my parkjets wont ROG but that is from some pretty thick grass. I'm not even sure some of the Alfa jets could ROG from our usuall field.

We have a super bandit EDF that fits a single microfan. 6mmFlyRC.com (http://www.6mmflyrc.com)

Hi Tim,

Most of the Parkjets that are powered by Minifan are hand or bungee launched, except for Thomas Nelson's F-16 which is designed with mech. retracts, powered by a minifan. http://www.parkjets.com/tn-f16-Falcon.html

Jet Hanger Hobbies have several kits for Minifan (and Bigger) jets with retracts. http://www.jethangar.com/ (http://www.jethanger.com)

Another great site is the Electric Jet Factory http://www.ejf.com they offer several kits with air retracts.

Quote a few jets have been modified with fixed retracts, Jets like the HET F-18 and the new F-20 (although Glacer Gal is building one with air retracts. Some people have modified planes like the GWS A-10 with mech retracts.

Once you start to get into the microfan and below sized Parkjets, it's too much of a weight penality to add retracts.

yeah...im already flying park size edfs...but wanted to see if there were any that ive missed with the retracts...

i might have to do the bungee thing....been handlaunching and getting others to HL for me also...some have bit the dust due to the launch...like my mig25 maiden....

but i ROG with the alfas and they never miss a beat....

Thanks Tom....any tips on bungees for your park fly jets?....

Tim,
If you have good thrust to weight, you might want to try an underhanded toss, instead of trying to fling the jet like a Javalin...

You might want to take a look at this bungee launcher

It's about the best one that I have seen so far.
