Long time lerker, first time poster (in the WWI threads).

Ok so I'm thinking about this one. I don't have any WWI planes but have flown a Pitts Bipe.

firt?

that's a big plane Tom, I like the looks of it.

It needs a coat of matte medium, to get rid of that shine.

An SE5A is probably one of the easiest WWI planes to set up and fly. They have a long nose which makes them easier to balance than say a Sopwith Camel. The dihederal in the wings makes the plane a little more stable. I would like to know more details about this particular model. Does this company make any other WWI planes? Steve.

Here's a link to their home page Steve. They only have one other WWI plane and it's not real attractive IMO. I've got quite a few of their electric ARFs and I've been real happy with them.

I thought so too. Looks really plane (pardon the pun). Really lacks detail.

They don't have the prices posted because they only sell to distributors. They are the manufacturer.

This online shop sells Richmodel planes here in the good ol' USA.

AK Models (http://ak-models.com/mm5/merchant.mvc?Screen=SFNT&Store_Code=AKM)

I just looked and he does not stock the SE5A from RM but He's good about answering emails. Maybe he can get it?

Actually, I've been able to have the branch manager of one of our China plants go over and pick them up for me. We have containers coming from our plants to here every 3 or 4 weeks so I get them to ride for free.

Why did they spend the time to make the SE5A look decent and then absolutely ruin the Fokker tripe? Makes no sense to me at all!! Steve

Who knows why. I would much rather have the Tripe than the SE5A but that one just looks awful.

You betcha buddy! Even though I am one of them MWS types, you're a stand up guy. I know you've hit a bit of bad luck here recently, so how about this? I'll pick one of these up, get to you at SEFF, and you won't owe me a dime. Kindness of the heart, and all that, what do you say?

Well, shucks, I am speechless Tom. Wow, I uh, yeah, sure, I would be stupid to say no.

Thanks!

Tom,

That is a sweet looking airplane. Can't wait to hear what you think about it.

While you are at it, why not just outfit it for Wilbur too. But use cheap stuff - he'll crash it on the maiden. LOL

Not a bad looking Se5a. Has anyone found out the cost here in the US yet? I have the DyanFlite Se5a 1/4 scale kit unbuilt but I'd go for the Richmodel version. It's a nice size in that it would probably still fly well on 3s power. I'm not ready yet to reinvest in new packs of 4s size.
